Adrienne Rich once described 'revision' as "the act of looking back, of seeing with fresh eyes, of entering an old text from a new critical direction". She said that for women, revision is "more than a chapter in cultural history: it is an act of survival." These poems are my way of looking back with fresh eyes. They may not match what I considered to be my truth back then, but they are where my stories meet me now.
""I occasionally write poetry in my spare time. Usually not for an audience, but for the way one can attempt to scribe a feeling, image or moment onto a piece of paper. This book is filled with no particular theme but my own interests. So, in a way, the theme is of my formative years of both writing and living. The experiences I have encountered so far and my feelings at this early stage of my life has also weighed heavily on these writings. I think someone once said, """"write what you know"""", and I set out writing this with every intention to follow suit.""
