Sceneries change depending on what you feel in the moment. I'm trying to capture sceneries and views through such filters of emotion. These photos are different to those you would take if you were to leave your house with the intent of taking photographs. Sometimes, I become very sensitive to smell. Not smells that you sense with your nose but smells that you sense with your feelings. In those moments, I am drawn towards the smell of the city, the smell of people, the smell of life. Sometimes I traverse towns I don't know following only my sense of smell. You may not have a particular place to go to, but if you get over yourself and leave the house, you'll find yourself finding things you never imagined. When my feelings align with the scenery unfolding in front of me and I happen to have a camera on me, I'll press the shutter button. (I almost always have a camera on me. )Does this filter of feelings really exist? Does it become visible in photographs? Or is it just my imagination? In the end, finding the answers to self-doubts like that becomes another motivation for me to keep taking photos. -from the artist's statement (translation by shashasha)

Well known for her use of brightly coloured hues and tones within her photographic work, multidisciplinary artist Hanayo's publication Dim opens up a new exploration for readers to view works taken in black and white. Presenting a collection of images taken in and around cities such as Berlin and Tokyo, Hanayo's Dim revisits moments shared in the past with her many friends and acquaintances made throughout her years living in Berlin. The images captured in black and white create a heightened sense of nostalgia which run through the pages of the photobook, reflecting both memories of places, people and feelings kept and conserved through the photographed images.

"At dusk, small fire sparks drew a soft line on the azure-blue sky, and they were so close they seemed like fireflies. And the flames only sounded during the moments when they were blown by a strong wind, scattering sparks all around. These sparks then disappeared as if they were being drawn into the sky, which was deepening into a blue-black. Following these with my eyes, I pondered where the lights were going, The colour of the sky further deepened, and I strained my eyes carefully to the tiny sparks emerging. They were blown away, stirred up, and put out by the wind. "-  Murakoshi ToshiyaPublished by Libro Arte in collaboration with Spooky CoCoon Factory, Toshiya Murakoshi's sentimental documentation of his hometown Tokyo sees Murakoshi tracing the memory of his hometown through a collection of photographs of his parents house and the surrounding landscape. The works featured in the book were created after the death of his grandmother in 2009 prompting him to rediscover a relationship with photography, documenting his family memories and delving into the sincerity of his surroundings.  Included within is an afterword by Murakoshi Toshiya and text by Head priest, Chohoy-in Temple, Director of Kurenboh Temple gallery Taniguchi Akiyoshi and Curator of The National Museum of Modern Art Tokyo Masuda Rei.
