Thoughts that was put into words will sometimes defined these rhymes as wildness and mind-blowing drama, a sense of calmness and dilemma is always in motion to keep these flames within the mind of oneself. Yet the feelings of love with just a taste of corruption will take you on a journey that will leave you speechless in ways of great turbulence and creative drama. Love, passion and stimulation of the mind is somehow the pain from within the heart that was once lost, yet has the feeling of friendship with true meaning of words and thoughts from within a mind of wildness. Roan Small Born in the beautiful island of Jamaica in 1978. Roan has always had a thing for words. His amazing creativity for writing and poetry of his own style and flavor is breathtaking, however he is a lover for ancient poetry and middle age novels. This is the first book of his spontaneous yet creative mind and yes, it has a little of everything.
Why do we struggle to love ourselves? What does it mean to be truly good to ourselves? Have we been so disoriented by the messages we regularly receive from those around us and from our society and culture that we don't really know what loving our self looks and feels like? It's impossible to be the person everyone expects us to be. Still we make huge efforts and spend our resources to be someone we cannot be. We can try to convince ourselves that this is the way it is and has to be, but it's not. Tired of all the masks and games? Maybe you need to take time to discover who you truly are and what your very precious life is all about. It begins with a searching and honest look at your self. The person you will find underneath all the distortions is both good and loveable. This is the person you are invited to embrace and to care for. Through these pages, enter the too frequently unexplored territory between self-neglect and self-indulgence. Using the format of retreat conferences, the author blends together: personal stories, scriptural reflections, experientially sourced wisdom and a touch of humor to carefully bring to light and examine the possibilities and parameters of self-love. As You Love Your Self presents a compelling argument for why we need to start with love of self and why we cannot stay there. Authentic self-love is meant to free us to be able to wholeheartedly give the wonderful gift of our selves in love to others. Follow Tim Buckley as he recounts his journey from broken and wounded beginnings toward embracing and celebrating himself with love. This is our story, the human story--the story of hurt, faith, courage and grace--rooted in love and destined for love.
Donald Wortman grew up in a world of which most young people of today have no direct knowledge or experience. In the little town of Morristown, Indiana, during the Great Depression and later, WWII, his family had no TV, internet, electronic games or cell phones. They communicated with friends, family, and neighbors face to face or with the hand-cranked phone on the wall. But Morristown provided him with a strong, hard-working family and almost unlimited opportunities to develop his skills, abilities, self-reliance and imagination. From birth in 1934, through his formative years until high school graduation, Don enjoyed a secure home in a close-knit town where he and his friends had many “Huck Finn”-type adventures. After high school graduation in 1952, Don attended Butler University and then Indiana University where he distinguished himself as a student. These years were sadly interrupted by the death of his father, Lyall, as well as by a stint in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Throughout his years in college and in the army, he benefitted from the solid family foundation in which he had been brought up. Failure was not an option. Hard work, perseverance, and good character were the values that had been instilled in him. His independence as well as all the many practical skills he had developed in Morristown would prove to be invaluable in his future. After marriage and receiving his PhD in physics, Don embarked on a career filled with accomplishments, such as his many publications, inventions, patents, awards, and eventually co-founding a laser business. Throughout his career, he always exhibited the self-reliance, creativity, and strong work ethic he developed as a young man in Morristown, Indiana. As they say, “You can take the boy out of Morristown, but you can’t take Morristown out of the boy”.
All men keep secrets from their children. Some men even keep secrets from their wives. My father did both. By the dawn of 1945, the War was at its zenith. Nazi Germany was like a dying star burning its brightest just before going extinct. Germans were on their own soil and those protecting "the Fatherland" were the true believers - the fanatics - who would, and did, fight to the last man standing. The battles fought were mostly in cities, house to house and sometimes hand to hand. Many of these battles were fought by untested teenage American boys. All the time, Hitler was using his futuristic "wonder weapons" on this European front, while committing mass murder in concentration camps. My father was one of these American boys. At eighteen years old, he joined the Army in 1944, and fresh out of boot camp, he became one of those "replacements." Those men who replaced fallen comrades; and the ones battle hardened veterans didn't want to get to know. But my father's experience was a little different than most, because he learned that he was fighting some of his own blood relatives who were either in the Nazi party, the army, or Hitler Youth. Although untested, he and his comrades were thrown into one of the longest battles an American Army Division fought during the war. For thirty days they fought and marched. Those they fought were hardened SS and Hitler Youth. It was the formula for vicious, personal fighting and for unthinkable atrocities committed by both sides. My father fought with distinction, all the while earning the respect of the veterans he served with. Then, when he thought the fighting was over, his unit was the first in for the liberation of one of Hitler's most famous concentration camps, Dachau.
Extraordinary turns of event from inside the walls of a pretzel shop!Pat Long’s pretzel shop, Pretzel Land, is in the heart of Amish Country and puts her in contact with all sorts of people on a daily basis. Some are the salt of the earth (no pun intended) and others get all tied up in knots (OK, pun intended) being less than nice. From the hilarious (Amish hip-hop dancer, anyone? Or how about the four-year-old who sang along with Queen’s “Fat Bottom Girls”?) to the absurd (such as a guest who thinks she possesses the power of invisibility)—and all the cases of mistaken identity and foul-mouthed customers in between—this book paints a lively picture of humankind at its best and worst. Some of these anecdotes will make you laugh, others will make you groan, and a few may just give your tear ducts a workout. So, sit back with your favorite snack (Would you like some cheese dip with that? How about a lemonade?) and enjoy these missives from deep inside her Pretzel Land! Pat was born in Baltimore, but eventually made her way to Central Pennsylvania and settled in for many years. After graduating in 1992 from Lycoming College with a degree in English and a New Testament Greek minor (yeah, very useful) she dedicated her early career to social services. Pat worked for Special Olympics Pennsylvania for a decade, overseeing volunteers all over the state and really hitting on her passion for sports and her compassion for the developmentally disabled. She married her partner in 2008 and began working for the American Cancer Society as a patient services advocate. In 2011, it was time to make a change, and she purchased a pretzel store in sleepy little Berks County, Pennsylvania.
As far back as the Norman Conquest of 1066, Watford with three towns was exceptional. Soon after, the king awarded Watford as a knight's fee--a parcel of land sufficient to support a knight. Two centuries on, the single holding was broken into separate manors for the deceased lord's daughters. Some 350 troublesome years and three families later, the manors of Watford were recombined by a wealthy London merchant.Remarkably, the heirs of the Ardern family of Watford held the manors continuously for nearly 500 years from the twelfth century, claiming a unique place in English history.Accurately presented and meticulously researched, The Watford Knight's Fee explores the Watford manors, revealing surprising stories of their lands and those who occupied their medieval halls. The first book of its kind to be published on the subject, The Watford Knight's Fee is a must-read for any English or medieval history enthusiast. Author Murray Johnston adds colour to the story with original text and images of documents, reproductions of maps of the grounds, and ample charts of land holdings.

The Houston police detective assigned to the case solicits John for his help in solving the suicide and missing secretary. I love to cook with children! I am a teacher and twelve years ago, I started teaching kindergarten. I decided that I wanted to teach my class about the world. So, I decided the best way to do that would be through cooking. They loved it! Teaching the children to cook was so much fun! The children often shared places they had been and food they had eaten. The children were learning so many things when cooking. They learned about the country, how to work together, use their math skills and most importantly patience for the finished product. The other thing that I discovered as time went on, was how the children were paying attention to the smells of the different recipes and how they remembered who they were with and where they were. This was so exciting for me. I had read that the sense of smell which is created in the olfactory bulb, which is in the limbic system of the brain, is closely associated with memory and feeling which is sometimes called the ìemotional brain.î Smells can bring memories and powerful responses almost instantly. Because the olfactory bulb has a close access to the amygdala, which processes emotion and the hippocampus which is responsible for associative learning. The first time you encounter a smell you link it to an event, person, or moment. The next time you encounter the smell you elicit the memory or mood. This is so exciting for both myself and my students! Watching this happen, gave me the inspiration to write a series of childrenís book to teach children about the world through the magic of food. When children are immersed in culture they learn more meaningfully and remember always. My vision is that all children will want to learn about the world through cooking.
Changing My Mind: Reinventing Myself In Retirement examines the transition from career to retirement from every angle. Each year, approximately 4 million people in the United States retire. Many of these people prepare financially for this major life event, but do not adequately prepare for the emotional and social impact of retiring. It can be stressful to cope with the changes retirement brings. At a time when we expected to be happy and relaxed, we can find ourselves struggling to come up for air. Further increasing the degree of difficulty, many people tackle secondary or related changes in their lives at the same time as they retire. Retirees often relocate. Retirees often become caregivers for loved ones. Retirees often find their relationships change. Retirees often wonder how to have a fulfilling, satisfying life after leaving the workforce. With all this major metamorphosis whipping around in our brains, it is no wonder that retiring can feel a bit like stepping into a violent change tsunami. Changing My Mind grapples with all these challenges and more. Dorry Curran provides a perspective on coping with the retirement transition that is often humorous, sometimes poignant... and unfailingly practical.
Michael and Madison have precious little in common. The only thing the two children seem to share is the concern their parents feel over their lack of social skills. As a forced play date between the two unfolds with little success, fate strikes. A radiation wave envelopes most of the world, destroying with it much of the world's population. The two children who were once at odds now find themselves together alone in the aftermath. Takkuttaname and Vena likewise have seemingly little in common. Vena is a glamorous inhabitant of one of earth's last remaining cities, Takkoma, while Takkuttaname is an unruly tribe member from the forbidden wilderness. The two are from separate worlds, and yet a chance meeting will bring them together in ways they never would have imagined. As Takkoma's callous leader seeks to build the city's population by force, Vena and Takkuttaname must work together to save their people. Beautiful Dawn is the story of two divergent stories that come together in a most unexpected way. Author Justin Trissel brings to life complex characters whose breathtaking journeys leave their mark long after the stories' completion. Justin Trissel is an American author from Tacoma, WA. From as early as age four Justin was coming up with ideas for stories, ones that his mother would type down before he even knew how to write. After considering some fifty story ideas over a twenty year period, Justin decided after college to write down a story he spontaneously came up with that he knew would have a perfect ending. Now he brings you his debut novel, Beautiful Dawn.
Happiness is something we hear about every day. We hear people say it all the time “I’m happy about it”, “We are a happy family”, “I’m not happy” and on and on. Yet we hear it in the movies and in songs that we want to be happy, to find happiness, and we think we know what that is and we think we know where it is hiding. If we could only get that one thing, that thing that will turn our life around and then we could be happy forever. No more sadness. When I ask people if they’re happy I always get the proverbial deer in the headlights look because the question stumps them and it stumped me too for about 60 years but I believe I have found the answer and I definitely know how to answer that question now if I were to be asked. Chasing the rainbow to find that pot of gold or that treasure chest of happiness just isn’t going to happen but it’s not all bad news. Actually it’s good news because I believe that anyone can get closer to having complete happiness just by recognizing how to do it, where to find it, and how to disengage from those things in your life that make you unhappy. Once you read through this book you will understand what I mean and you will also be able to quickly answer the question as to whether you are happy or not without hesitation.

Kim offers a unique blend of the modern and traditional, as overtones of the poet’s Eastern cultural roots permeate each page. In addition to musings on present-day society, A Candle from the Far East (Poems) offers reflections on more emotional themes—such as the growth of deep and profound love, alienation of once close friendships over time, and finding purpose through spiritual growth—culminating in a beautifully rich collection of works that have universal applicability. The end result is a collection that readers will turn to time and time again and one that successfully shares wisdom and contributes to the well-being of all. The First Century AD goes back to the year 1 AD. It captures historical events over the first hundred years in a short concise look at history packed with little known facts and information. The Roman Caesars, Chinese dynasties, Indian philosophy and Christianity were all interwoven in the first century. During this century a human god is proclaimed by the Roman Empire and a heavenly Son of God is born. This Son of God rocked both Heaven and earth and still does today. The followers of Jesus suffered every form of torture imaginable but the Christian movement prevailed.
Jesus Christ was sent to the Earth for two purposes--to bring back the heedless Jews to the correct principles of Judaism, and to alert people to the coming of a Helper. Although he was not authorized to make rules or enact laws; Jesus Christ is deemed the face of one of the world's most followed religions. Christianity is one of the most-followed religions in the world. While it has many sects, all are based on the same foundational principles. What followers of Christianity fail to realize is that Jesus Christ was no religious rule maker, nor did he ever intend to be. Since Christ left no law to follow, on what basis then does Christianity stand? Dogmatic Dilemmas of a Christian argues that Christ was sent by God merely to direct his people to abide by the teachings of Jewish law included in the Old Testament. Internal contradictions within Christianity are examined, including the error of combining the New and Old Testaments into one religious text, the direct inconsistencies of the New and Old Testaments, and the failure of Christ's followers to adhere to the Helper's teachings, a prophet whom Christ foretold about his coming after his ascension--the identity of whom is examined in these pages. Author Hassan Emam Ismail painstakingly recounts and details the flaws and inconsistencies in Christianity that have been ignored for hundreds of years. An important read for Christians searching for the truth, in addition to anyone who has wondered at the origin of one of the world's most prevalent religions, Dogmatic Dilemmas of a Christian provides theories that have heretofore been unpublished by any other religious scholar. Hassan Emam Ismail was born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1937. He received his law degree in 1958 from Ain Shams University, after which he had a distinguished legal career working for the late Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser and as a prosecutor in Egypt's Ministry of Justice. Emam Ismail has spent much of his life reading, studying, and analyzing comparative religion.
