Follow an animal-loving bartender and her hot, protective boss as they finally give into the attraction between them in this emotional and steamy romantic comedy about healing the past to let love in. Josie I didn't plan to fall in love with my boss. Cory Porter is six-foot-six of muscle and I fell for him the day he gave me a job in his bar. Too bad he's twelve years older than me and treats me like a little sister. Cory I shouldn't have suggested Josie and Pretzel stay at my place. I've been fighting feelings for that woman for five years. But the more time we spend under one roof, the harder it gets to keep my hands off her-especially when she's bent over on her yoga mat in our living room. Can't a guy catch a break? I know it's selfish of me to act on this. I'm a committed bachelor like my father and will only end up hurting her. But now that I've let Josie in, can I become the man she deserves? They say that we all have a day, a dark day of the soul when we either sink for good or fight it and rise from the depths threatening our everything. I don't think I had a day, but rather a period of time where things were so dark I knew that if something didn't change - if I didn't change - then I would get pulled under and never escape, leaving my girls without a mum, just as I had been left without mine. This book is born from that journey, its my struggle from just barely surviving to truly thriving. Its a practical tool that will help to equip you with the knowledge that I learnt along the way to allow you to get unstuck, to improve your life, to show you how to stop thinking small and how to make positive change no matter what you are currently going through. Finally allowing you to live the life you deserve to live.I myself have been at the lowest of the low places, I have learnt how to pick myself up again and move forward to where I am today. I truly believe this book can help you to grow and evolve and change into the person I know you were born to be.I am here to show you just what's possible when you finally choose yourself.

  • - A Pride & Prejudice Variation
    av Shana Granderson a Lady
    204,-

The great lady is very much like she is in canon until there is a horrific accident in 1804 where both her husband Lewis and her daughter Anne die. For a lady who believed she could control all by force of will and desire, the deaths of her family rock her world down to the foundations. She revaluates all of her priorities, changes direction, and becomes a surrogate mother to both surviving Darcys. In his will Sir Lewis leaves his estate and all of his holdings to Richard Fitzwilliam as he is the only one of his three nephews to have to shift for himself. Sir Lewis and Anne were the last alive in the de Bourgh line. Jane Bennet, after losing more than one suitor to her mother's vulgar and inappropriate behaviour has had the blinders removed. Elizabeth is no longer in awe of her father as she has had her eyes opened to his indolence and abrogation of his parental responsibility. Rather than laugh with him at his treatment of his wife and younger daughters, she understands the inappropriateness of how her father behaves. The story is close to canon with regards to the interactions between the Netherfield and Longbourn residents with the dastardly George Wickham pouring poison on our Lizzy's ear up to a point. We see a lot of that interaction through the eyes of William Collins who is very different from his portrayal in canon. Wickham is exposed, but not by Darcy. Bingley is his spineless self and allows his sister Caroline to rule his life and manipulate him while at the same time he looks to Darcy to make decisions for him. The Netherfield Party escapes to Town and Bingley deserts Jane without a word except for Miss Bingley's fiction she sends in her note and single reply to a Jane's three letters. Up to a point, Lady Catherine has taken a back seat. Unlike the lady we are used to, she does not want to insert herself into her relative's lives unless absolutely needed. When she sees too much happening which needs correcting, she decides to take charge. She leads her family in berating Darcy for his behaviour in Hertfordshire, his hauteur, and in not taking care of the scourge that is George Wickham. This story looks at how this iteration of Lady Catherine changes the trajectory of a number of character we all love, and some we dislike intensely.

    >CRYSTAL ICE also tells of an Auckland-based motorcycle gang called the Skorpions that has the distribution network that allows it to sell crystal methamphetamine in New Zealand and the mutualistic relationship that exists between the Croatian restaurateurs and the Skorpion leadership. It is a relationship that hinges on the Croatians successfully smuggling the precursor chemicals into the country and receiving 60% of the vast amounts of money generated by this illicit trade. When this relationship is threatened, by one of the Skorpion co-leaders withholding monies from the brothers, the Croatian's revenge is both swift and brutal, resulting in the execution of the renegade Skorpion leader. The killing is the catalyst to a series of events that ultimately threatens the illicit drug ring. Parallel to the power flux between the Croatians and the Skorpions is a young and naïve New Zealand Customs officer who gradually uncovers small and sometimes, seemingly insignificant clues that eventually leads him to discover the connection between the Croatian restaurateurs who manufacture the drugs, the Auckland motorcycle gang who distribute them and finally the terrorist cell that released the virus in the United States. Unlike "Contagion" written by Scott Burns in 2010 this is the story of a terrorist weaponized virus released by aerosol across the North Eastern states of America. Similar to COVID-19 the outbreak initially catches USAMRIID and the CDC off-guard. However, they soon implement the National Strategy for Pandemic Influenza and initiate inter-agency field teams to investigate and identify the point sources of contagion. This novel does not detail the effects COVID-19 has had on the United States, it only details the effect the fictional weaponized virus has had before its distribution was disrupted.

  • - A Pride and Prejudice Reimagining
    av Shana Granderson a Lady
    253,-

**This is an Elizabeth is not a Bennet Story** This story starts with one of King George III's sons marrying the love of his life secretly. The woman is a daughter of an Earl. After more than a year of marriage, all of the time with his beloved wife spent at her estate of Netherfield Park in Hertfordshire, the Prince reveals his marriage to his father hoping the elapsed time will protect them. The King orders his son to leave the lady and plans to have the marriage annulled. The King was at least convinced by his son not to annul the marriage, so instead he orders a speedy divorce. The reason was NOT that the lady was unsuitable, the opposite was true, but for political reasons, the King has promised his son's hand to a European princess to strengthen alliances for England. It saddens the King to do so, especially as this son is one he is very close to, knowing he is breaking his son's heart the King forces the divorce as the other country in question is one England sorely needs as an ally. In the meanwhile, the lady had become best of friends with Mrs. Francine Bennet of Longbourn. They met not many months after Jane was born, shortly after the lady moved into Netherfield Park. When her devastated husband informs her of the forced divorce, his wife does not inform him she is with child to try not hurt him more than he has been already. It so happens Fanny Bennet is also pregnant with her second child at the same time. Due to the ignominy of divorce and worried about the social ramifications coupled with making assumptions about what the royals would expect of them, the lady's family cut ties with her when she needs her parents more than ever. The only one she feels she has left is Fanny Bennet. A few other friends write but the broken-hearted lady is not ready to accept their overtures and respond yet. As both ladies near their confinements Thomas Bennet is called away-for what he tells his wife-is to assist his good friend from Cambridge, the Earl of Holder, in Staffordshire. He is actually investigating ways to break the entail on Longbourn. Fanny moves into Netherfield to be with her best friend during their confinements along with 2-year-old Jane. Before the final confinement, her brothers, Phillips, the solicitor, and Gardiner, the man of business are summoned. Phillips draws up a will for the lady and Gardiner is given management of her fortune. Just in case the worst happens, the lady writes a number of letters, among them one to her unborn child, one to the Prince, one to Bennet, and one to her parents as she has a plan in the event of her death. The best friends go into labour within hours of each other. Fanny delivers a stillborn son and some hours later, her friend delivers a healthy baby girl, who is the legitimate daughter of a Prince, making her a Princess. The friend has complications of birth and will not survive long. She implores her best friend-her sister of the heart-to take her daughter and raise her as her own and she will claim the dead baby son. Fanny cannot deny her friend her dying wish. The Lady names her baby Elizabeth after her grandmother. The lady charges Fanny with waiting until she feels Elizabeth is ready, to reveal her birth right to her, explaining her reasons for waiting. Other than a few small bequests to some, the lady's last will bequeaths her child all of her worldly possessions, including an enormous fortune and Netherfield Park on reaching his/her majority of 21. When Bennet returns he is introduced to, and falls in love with, his second daughter. Jane and Lizzy are both loved equally by their parents. The story looks at how the Bennets' lives are different with a much different Fanny than canon. Also how will Elizabeth and the world around her react to the news when her true heritage is revealed. The Bennets meet the Darcys and Fitzwilliams much earlier than in Miss Austen's masterpiece.

  • - A Pride and Prejudice Variation
    av Shana Granderson a Lady
    224,-

None of the books in this series are purely about the title character, but how their taking charge affects those around them. Fanny Bennet dies of an apoplexy two years prior to the start of this story. As in canon, the Bingleys, Hursts, and Darcy arrive in the area residing in the leased Netherfield Park. Up until the Reverend William Collins arrival, things are not far from canon. Collins is the sycophant we all love to hate and sets his sights on Jane. Bennet tells him in no uncertain terms he will not consent to such a man marrying ANY of his daughters. Charlotte Lucas overhears Collins ranting to himself about how he will evict the Bennets from Longbourn the day Bennet passes. He then tried to woo Charlotte soon after and she too rejects him. He is derisive when she rejects him out of hand, he tells her that no man would ever offer for one on the shelf, without fortune, and as homely as her. Collins then proposes to Matilda Dudley, Lizzy's friend and Longbourn's widowered parson's daughter. Matilda accepts him much to Elizabeth and Charlotte's surprise. Collins's words to her spur Charlotte to take charge, the story tells the tale of what she does and how it affects the lives of not a few people. The book examines how Charlotte actions change the trajectories of some of our favourite (to love and hate) characters.

**This is a book of two volumes, but all in one book. It is a one off, standalone story.** Over 150 years in the past an Evil Duke plotted to separate his first and second sons. He was a man who had two interests: money and status. Lord Sedgewick Rhys-Davies, the 3rd Duke of Bedford sets off a chain of events that ultimately ends up doing the exact opposite of what his original evil intent was in the far future. Mr. Thomas Bennet lives with his second wife and family on his estate Longbourn in Hertfordshire. As far as he knows, he is an indirect descendant of the last Earl of Meryton whose line died out with him over 150 years ago. The family has owned Longbourn and Netherfield Park for as long as anyone remembers. There is an entail on Longbourn, but not the one we are used to. As in the canon, this Bennet dislikes London, and the Ton and he and his family keep away from London society. His second wife is the daughter of an Earl but just goes as Mrs. Bennet. The Bennet's new tenants at Netherfield Park are the Bingleys. One of the major deviations from canon in this tale, Jane Bennet has more than a little backbone while Bingley has little or none. How will Darcy behave, will he make assumptions and act on them? Will Elizabeth allow her prejudices to rule? When Wickham slithers onto the scene will he cause havoc? The 7th Duke of Bedford is ill, and he will be the end of the line as there are no living relatives to inherit the dukedom and vast Bedford holdings. He removes an old letter from a safe in his study written by the 4th Duke. Witten on the outside of the letter is: 'Open ONLY if there are no more Rhys-Davies heirs.' The Duke opens the letter and learns of the 3rd Duke's evil and there is in fact an heir, although a direct descendant, he is not a Rhys-Davies. This is the story of different families and what happens when their lives intersect and are changed for ever. There is quite a bit about Lizzy & Darcy, but there are not always the main focus of the story as the title infers.
