I grew up on Canvey Island in the 1950s when life back then was very different from today - unhurried and easy going and although times were hard, we got by - we had to. School was no fun for me due to the name calling and mockery I both endured and had to contend with. The 1953 floods too, hold scary memories. I feared stormy weather at night for many years and I really don't enjoy swimming. It wasn't all bad, there were plenty of fun times too.
At noon on Friday 3rd August 1787 on the Racecourse, Northampton. 5000 people mill around, looking for the best vantage point to see four men hanged in a public execution. They were members of the Culworth Gang, a band of highwaymen that had carried out 47 recorded robberies and many other offences on the good folk of the East Midlands, with little regard for consequence. The gang numbered up to seven on a raid, but only four had been convicted and for them, there was no escape. The makeshift gallows was their fate. Not long after midday the hangman's noose tightened and sent the four to meet their Maker. The gang had roamed the countryside of South Northamptonshire and neighbouring counties for twenty years looking for people to rob. Eventually caught due to carelessness, this is the first full history of the worst gang of highwaymen in the county's history.

Follow Sam and see if you feel like him today. Sam likes to show people how he feels so he can talk to them about it. This book is for 3 year olds onwards. The idea is simple. I have picked 12 different emotions that are easy to understand for children at a young age and not to complicated and confusing. Some children find it hard to explain how they are feeling. I hope with the aid of this book and chart enclosed it will teach your little ones to recognise and show everyone how they feel. That they will grow knowing that we care and it is good to share their stories. To help support and nurture young minds so all children grow with confidence and positivity. I hope this book will teach children from a young age to share their feelings and make it fun.
Pytheas of Massalia-a Greek scientific adventurer of the fourth century BC-was the first literate explorer to meet British countryfolk and write of their customs, crafts, food and farming practices. He explored parts of Britain including Kent, Stonehenge and the Cornish tin mines, then sailed to Scotland, Shetland, Iceland and the amber coasts of Denmark. His was a truly ambitious voyage, extremely risky for mariners in the boats of the time, especially in stormy conditions and near-Arctic drift ice. Consequences arising from Pytheas' inspection of Stonehenge are far-reaching because as a learned Greek he understood its purpose and, in the assessment of the present author, validly identified it as a Temple to the Sun. Temples implicitly accommodate and safeguard in their inner sanctum one or more icons to the divine. Befittingly, the present author had previously noted a significant, hitherto-unrecognized, carefully-carved phallic icon (a fallen bluestone) in the middle of the monument, and in this volume makes it public knowledge. Moreover, Pytheas describes the Stonehenge priesthood in enough detail as to indicate that the monument was still in use when he was there. Purposeful, exciting, audacious, this was a sensational exploit on sea and land. The 58 illustrations help to express the points under study, and allow readers to appreciate the mood of ocean and countryside that Pytheas encountered.
Gloria Samuel loves to teach and loves travelling. This book was inspired through one of her many series of travelling, to Africa between 2017 - 2020. Children are the ones who grow up and change the world. Their minds are developed through growth and experiences. We hope they continue to heal this world and make it a better and safer place, for all of us to live and breath regardless of their circumstances.

APART POSSIBLY FROM MEMBERS, WHO WOULD WANT TO READ ABOUT THE CARR FAMILY EXPERIENCE? MY DOUBTS ASSAILED. Gradually a more positive mind set took over as I concluded that most of us experience the framing, sustaining, in some cases maiming, events we call life within the context of the family stage and drama: Schooldays, Marriage, Offspring, Separation, Births and Deaths. To smooth the reader's journey a simplified Carr family tree has been included but it is in awareness of the above great commonality that these poems are offered, in hope they bring caring and sharing to others.
An age-old approach has quietly been addressing the issues confronting the human condition. An approach that in our science-driven world we have almost forgotten, the heart of the Gospel message. It can no longer be ignored. Our mental and emotional health and well being are being constantly challenged and even under threat, accelerated by the rapid changes to our daily lives brought on by the recent 2020 global pandemic. Times are uncertain. The future is no longer as clear. Therapy has gained rapid traction, promoted as the best evidence-based alternative to medication for addressing the increasing mood and anxiety disorders we are experiencing. While therapeutic approaches have merits in helping to modify or adapt our ways of thinking and behaving, therapy alone cannot fully address the root issues that affect us all. The purpose of this book is two-fold. The first is to explain why therapeutic approaches tend to fall short of effecting lasting change. The second is an attempt to share fresh insights into why the Gospel message is more relevant to us today, the only true therapy for the human soul.
