Ever since the partition of the Indian subcontinent on August 15, 1947, into India and Pakistan, the erstwhile country of Punjab (the Indian-Punjab) has been occupied and colonized by India. A process of alien subjugation, domination, and exploitation of the Sikh state that began with the British colonization continues under the Republic of India. India is not only using Punjab's land and resources for itself but has also proceeded to destroy Sikh national, religious, linguistic, and cultural identity. The carving up of Punjab's territory, the diversion of its key economic resources, the denial of religious freedom, the violation of fundamental civil and political rights of its people, and the regular pogroms on Sikh communities and holy sites across India demonstrate Sikh subjugation, domination, and exploitation by India. There has been a long history of discrimination, political treachery, and phony negotiations that resulted in repression, persecution, and unspeakable tortures of the Sikhs since 1947. Indian Army's invasion (Operation Blue Star) of Darbar Sahib in June 1984 and the Sikh genocide in November 1984 all over India tell the story of the existential threat to Sikhs in India. There has been a terrible tale of tortures and ruthless extrajudicial killing of Sikhs. The Sikhs have realized that the reestablishment of the independence of Punjab is their only option. This book describes the Sikh struggle for freedom and justice and their resolve and determination to achieve this goal by the exercise of their fundamental right to self-determination.

This book is a glimpse inside the mind and heart of a sister and a brother. Their bond is stronger than what is perceived. Both siblings wanted to be loved and accepted, but life challenges caused isolation and disconnections. One sibling was distant, going from being a single mother to marriage and moving on in life with being a military spouse, living in different states, and traveling the world has been an escape. Disappointments caused both to look up for answers, while tears became evident when alone, yet they were able to confide in each other. Neither was judged or looked at as doing any wrong. They were just in need of trust and love--two characteristics developed through the genes of family. Together they share a tale of disappointments and pain, seeking healing from the trauma experienced. This is their story.

It's a tale of how they experienced their own trials and tribulations into their adult years. Their experiences are no different from others in finding their direction in life.

The six chapters of this book were chosen to reach a variety of audiences. The poems are randomly on topic. There are numerous writings styles to tell a story or just make you think. The irony is, the more you read, the better you will understand the jotted-down madness. The objective is to be honest and free verbally. Some moments are extremely personal to the writer. Others can be a personality trait of the stranger reader. All are a way to connect to the words as a reviewer. I wrote this to be free and have no limitations. I'm challenging the audience to read into the creations.
