Here is a beautiful, slow-burning story set in Montreal and Bogota where heartbreak and hardship are mirrored in the streets of these two cities. For the class-minded Romero family, it was a tragedy, the mortal social sin committed by their son, Mauricio. Orphaned young Mauricio was the youngest brother in a family of eight siblings and was bound for a successful career in law, imitating his three older brothers. His passion was to become a professional soccer player, which took him to the wrong side of the city and the unwanted kind of acquaintances. In the process, he becomes blind to his own emotional life, allowing his sexual desires to drive his decisions, and he thinks he has outgrown his siblings who were once his entire world. In this universal drama of family love and rebellion, isolation harbored and drove him to the underground. On a free fall from grace to anonymity, his actions result in a sudden move to Montreal and the decision for reconstructing himself in a foreign country, as an immigrant with no direction in life, only with the dream of becoming a writer. The long journey takes the immigrant from emotional depravation and complete loneliness through an honest self-search and a quest for family. The power of having loved and lost, ever present in this honest recount of one's life and how it overcame the obstacles of a dangerous detour.

Songbirds, recently released by Newman Springs Publishing, was originally written 25 years ago during a period of unemployment that led the author, RoseAnna Lucarelli, back to teaching and, left her little time to write. RoseAnna approached Ms. Gwendolyn Davis, Senior Librarian, 96th Street Branch of the New York Public Library and asked for a critique of her manuscript humbly bound at Staples, written on a laptop purchased at a thrift store. Mrs. Davis, acknowledged posthumously, took the time from her busy schedule coordinating poetry events, to read the original manuscript and, unequivocally encouraged her to read aloud at Barnes & Noble and the NYPL. She did - to welcoming audiences! During that period, the East Side Rapist terrorized the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and RoseAnna started Rose Petals, a fictionalized screenplay about a woman, stalked and attacked by a rapist who terrorized the Upper East Side; the protagonist struggles with forgiveness - a theme that has haunted the author. Forgiveness; Love: Familial, Pets, Nature; Kindness; Time, Life, Death; and a cast of characters, beguiling and dastardly, are themes the author has explored, hoping, like Emily Dickinson, that she has written for people who do not read poetry. An article published in the Chestnut Hill Local, by Len Lear, Features Editor, "Expecting rejection but accepted by first publisher!"; tributes to her parents, Italian heritage; a story about her heroine dog; and photographs are included in the volume whose cover was designed by the author. Within one month of its release, Songbirds has been accepted for inclusion in the collections of the Philadelphia Free Library, PA; Warminster Public Library, PA; Doylestown Public Library, PA; Lambertville Public Library, Lambertville, NJ; and Montserrat College of Art, MA. American Civil War Era 1861-1865, African American Diaspora 1619-1865. Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments to the Constitution of the United States, Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation in 1861 so the slaves could fight in the Civil War. One hundred eighty thousand black soldiers joined the Union Army; forty thousand were killed. General Grant was very pleased with the black soldier. He said, "In battle, the dead black soldiers would cover the length of a football field." He further stated, "He could walk the length of a football field on dead bodies, and his feet would never touch the ground." African Americans fought in the Revolutionary War. The first man killed in the Revolutionary War was a black man named Crispus Attucks. He was killed during the 1770 Boston Massacre. He was one of the five thousand slaves who fought in the Revolutionary War. Harriet Tubman was a spy for the Union Army. She was nicknamed General Tubman and received a pension from the Union Army. Bass Reeves, born in 1838, was a celebrated hero, the first black US marshal in the United States; he was a legend as a US marshal. The Gettysburg Address, Pennsylvania, November 19, 1863. Africa, nearly ten million miles wide, is the second largest continent; Asia is the largest continent. Some African tribes sold Africans to the white man to be taken to America and enslaved. The Dred Scott Decision: Chief Supreme Court Justice Taney ruled in the Dred Scott decision that a slave is a slave no matter where he is, he is the property of his master, and he has no rights that the white man has to respect. The fifty battles in the Civil War, including the bloodiest battles, had fifty-six thousand casualties in one day.

It's Forever Strictly Personal concludes Eric Friedmann's journey through the movies during the eight year period of 1992 to 1999. While he and the rest of the world embraced blockbuster motion pictures like Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible, Independence Day, Titanic and The Matrix, it was also alternative films like A River Runs Through It, Like Water For Chocolate, Pulp Fiction, The Usual Suspects and Life Is Beautiful that captured the attention of his adulthood, and forever reminded him of the endless possibilities of cinema.Eric's personal story about the movies is forever told with great memory and affection, for those who still remember when movies changed us, helped us to grow, and evolved into deep-rooted memories for all of us who loved sitting in front of the big screen and waited for the magic to unfold."Movies comfort us, teach us, and hopefully, try to answer the big questions of why in life" - Eric Friedmann So, are you ready to go back one last time...and remember?1

"When we first meet people, understandably, they are very shocked. They've just received a diagnosis that may significantly alter their life. And although we review all the information with them about diagnosis, treatment, and what to expect, not surprisingly most people don't process all of that...so it is helpful to have a caregiver...who's hearing the same information...who can help the patient know what to expect, and for that caregiver...to guide the patient through the process, in addition to us coaching and guiding the patient...." -Dr. Eric D. Jacobsen, MD Division of Hematologic Malignancies, Department of Medical Oncology, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute"There is power in a caregiver's ability to bear witness to a person who is suffering from serious illness. Being seen and validated in illness can provide strength to a sick person as they carry that acknowledgement as their ongoing proof of importance in this world. However, bearing witness is so very difficult, and the strength to do so clearly comes from the love shared between a patient and their caregiver. -Dr. Nancy T. Skehan, MD, Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School "Whether the caregivers are family members or close acquaintances, they can help bridge the gap between hope and despair, can provide clarity in the midst of confusion, and they can help guide the patient along a path fraught with fear and anxiety." -B. I had long contemplated writing this memoir, and with infertility on the rise even more now than when I was in my childbearing years, I felt compelled to share my story in the hopes of inspiring others to consider all their options when looking to start a family of their own.Although every woman's story differs, my own family and friends couldn't fully digest what it meant for me to be infertile. Families who have never struggled to have children can give their sympathies for those of us who can't get pregnant, but unless you or someone close to you has experienced the emotional roller coaster of infertility, their well-placed intentions are often limited in scope and depth. It is my sincere hope that not only will infertile readers feel like they aren't alone in their challenge to become parents, but that their families and friends may benefit from my story to put perspective on the infertile experience. I also hope that those with unplanned pregnancies will give serious consideration to the precious gift of adopting their baby to a family who would cherish them beyond measure. While I have changed the names of everyone in this book to protect them from any embarrassment or shame they may feel hearing my story, I have also changed my own name to protect my daughter's privacy. My intention isn't to hurt anyone's feelings, but the heart of the matter would be lost if I couldn't be as open and honest as possible with my audience. Many a tear was shed as I compiled this book, both from remembered sorrows and the heights of triumph. As difficult as reliving this personal journey has been, I am reminded every day by looking at the beautiful one who calls me Mom--that she was meant to be my daughter and she's absolutely worth it.I encourage every woman to own her personal power, unbury her hidden strength, and fight for the family you always wanted.

This story came about on a hot August day while I was working in my hobby shop. I heard a loud scraping noise in my driveway. I went to see what it was and went back into my shop and tried to work. Things bounced around in my mind about Christmas like a song that won't exit the skull. After about an hour of this, I went into the house and wrote down about three pages of notes and didn't write the story until January. Things are always bouncing around in my head. Sometimes, the thoughts solve a problem I'm having. Other times, they turn into an idea for a new project that would, of course, go along with my John Deere stuff.

Twenty-four-year-old Kara West is drunk, and the pile of sleeping pills she swallowed is only pulling her down into the fog that much faster. As her thoughts blur, she dreams of her life the way it had been: the simple joy of her new apartment, learning to love the smells and sights of living in the city, the friendships formed... the quiet echo of people walking by, just out of reach, as her faces scratches against the rough brick. The booze, the pills- --it's not enough to make her forget the heat of his breath as he whispered in her ear; it's not enough to keep her from still remembering the feeling of his knee in her back.Throughout this psychological fiction, Kara struggles with the shame of her emotions; of seeing herself as weak and afraid. Slipping in and out of consciousness, Kara relives her past. We follow her to the one fateful night all her lies, her attempts at hiding the liquor and pills, collapse. In what becomes a desperate moment, Kara runs. No longer can she pretend. She now has no choice but to face the demons she had used to cope, the demons she thought she had hidden so well.A Quiet Kind of Crazy begs the question of just how dangerous living a lie can be. As a society, we are beginning to see and talk about the emotional cost of hiding who we are; that may be reflected in how we define ourselves, what we have done, or what has been done to us. In Kara's case, it provides the reader an insight into the torture that living with fear, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress can create. Kara's story not only appeals to those who are familiar with the struggle of mental anguish; but to those who are left behind wondering what happened to the person they love.

The book focuses more on Mrs. Claus rather than on Santa. It is about Mrs. Claus being put in a situation where Santa becomes ill, and she is placed out of her comfort zone so that children won't be disappointed for Christmas.I got the idea while watching Christmas cartoons this past year, and I noticed that we really weren't seeing Mrs. Claus. I'm old-fashioned, and I don't like computers, so I picked up a pencil and eraser at first when I began writing.

This book is about my life and how we are all affected by the events that are taking place in our society right now. I have a sports section, which shows how I view certain sports events and my view on the evolution on sports. There is also a section where I talk about neighbors and community and how certain people play big roles in our society has grown into a beautiful place, with examples such as intuition and how it is also good to have positive momentum and a positive attitude about life.I also talk about things I have learned from other people, such as why the weather is nice some days and why mother nature is affecting us negatively. I also talk about the problems I have solved in this world, such as back problems and diseases that have affected many people. There are many signs and symbols that I pick up on in our everyday lives, and I define my definition based on my knowledge of the world. In my book, I talk about how Hollywood has affected my life and how I feel the words in their movies and songs speak to me. The songs and movies that Hollywood produces have a lot of messages that speak to me, so I wanted to tell people how they benefit me and the entire world.

Abraham Lincoln recognized that the US Civil War would be a "hard war". Secession and slavery represented abiding beliefs central to Southern life. Overcoming them would require a war of attrition resulting in much death and destruction, but Lincoln knew that the populous industrial North would prevail in a war of "grim mathematics". He hoped that in George McClellan he had found the general to wage this war.McClellan, though young and bright, was not up to the task. Early in his tenure, he showed that he could organize a large army, but month upon month of inaction followed. McClellan politically favored preserving the Union for mercantile reasons, but slavery was a matter for the states to decide and therefore, negotiable. Reunion, he felt, did not require abolition. McClellan had talents as an organizer but could not bring himself "pull the trigger" on a decisive battle. Lincoln was finally able to coerce McClellan into proposing the Peninsular Campaign in the spring of 1862. The plan called for a massive amphibious operation which would deposit an army on the doorstep of Richmond and force a Confederate surrender. Lincoln did not like a plan as risky and costly as this, but reluctantly agreed.McClellan endangered the success of his plan by avoiding direct engagement with the enemy and working his way up the peninsula at a snail's pace. He lost the confidence and support of many of his subordinate generals. Phil Kearny was particularly aggrieved as he espoused a hard war and continuing contact with the enemy. After months of battles and squandered opportunities, McClellan ordered a retreat. His generals administered a final defeat to the Confederates at Malvern Hill but still were forced to withdraw to Harrison's Landing where they were unable to generate further offensive operations.McClellan had misused and betrayed the Army of the Potomac and failed to capitalize on their bravery and competence. His betrayal had only begun...

Jesus Christ is a unique being because of his miraculous birth, his ascension, and the Second Coming. Therefore, significant disputes have emerged regarding his reality and mission. The Bible itself contains two opposing images of Jesus, their parts have been scattered into the chapters of the books of the New Testament. Certainly, these two opposing images of Jesus cannot, of course, both be concurrently authentic at the same time. But one must be for Truly Jesus, and the other one is for Falsely Jesus. The two contradictory images of Jesus in the Bible, as well as the disputes regarding his reality and his interrelation to salvation as a savior, will remain until his Second Coming. Then Truly Jesus is manifested to the man of that time, and the Falsely will be destroyed. But what about a person today? Is he aware of the two images of Jesus, the true image and the false one that are scattered in the Bible? Does he not feel the necessity of exploring Jesus who in his heart, whether he is the true one or the false? Certainly, whoever has based his faith in Jesus on clear and conclusive evidence is rightly guided, or else he is in plain error. This book is a new analytical study, where it assembles all the scattered parts of each of the two contradictory images of Jesus in the Bible, highlights them as two complete images, examines them, explores their differences and how did Falsely Jesus appear and why? Also, this book presents to those who believe in the Hereafter, the proofs of the only one true formula of salvation, and to those who do not believe, the proofs of the necessity of an afterlife. The hope with this book is to offer the clarity of intention and the ability to distinguish between the two readings of Jesus as presented in this book.
