Mark Twain observed, "I'm in favour of progress; it's change I don't like." Coal dominates Indian energy because it's available domestically and cheap (especially without a carbon tax). If the global focus is on the energy transition, how does India ensure a just transition? Managing winners and losers will be the single largest challenge for India's energy policy. Coal is entrenched in a complex ecosystem. In some states, it's amongst the largest contributors to state budgets. The Indian Railways, India's largest civilian employer, is afloat because it overcharges coal to offset under-recovery from passengers. Coal India Limited, the public sector miner that produces 85% of domestic coal, is the world's largest coal miner. But despite enormous reserves, India imports about a quarter of consumption. On the flip side, coal faces inevitable pressure from renewable energy, which is the cheapest option for new builds. However, there is significant coal-based power capacity already in place, some of which is underutilized, or even stranded. Low per-capita energy consumption means India must still grow its energy supply. Before India can phase out coal, it must first achieve a plateau of coal. How this happens cost-effectively and with least resistance isn't just a technical or economic question, it depends on the political economy of coal and its alternatives. Some stakeholders want to kill coal. A wiser option may be to first clean it up, instead of wishing it away. Across 18 chapters, drawing from leading experts in the field, we examine all aspects of coal's future in India. We find no easy answers, but attempt to combine the big picture with details, bringing them together to offer a range of policy options.

Whenever one smiles and tells people that he or she is okay, they believe it. But then, when that person tells them about how down and low they feel, people say that you are so happy and you're smiling, then how are you feeling that way?Well, one thing that people need to learn is that appearances can be deceiving. You don't want to believe someone based on how they seem currently. People need to learn how to be kind, soft-spoken and learn to manage their ego since you don't know what the other person is going through. One unnecessary word from you can change their lives and might make someone end theirs. We don't tend to know the power held by our words. Even circumlocution can hurt someone. But some simple, kind words become soothing and miraculous for a person. Those words act like a rope when a person is drowning in the sea of darkness. It gives a new ray of hope. And that's what happened to the author of this Frozen Tears. This book describes the pain one goes through during the heart-breaking yet ethereal phase of 'one-sided' love. The phase which gives rise to a new and fresh being, which happens to everyone at least once in their lifetime, happened with Alisha. Even though she knew that the feeling wouldn't be mutual, she suffered through that phase, and it was even more breaking than she had expected. It was a sudden paroxysm of grieving emotions.
The main software when using the computer is the operating system. The operating system defines all the experiences when using a computer; it manages the hardware and software resources of the computer system, provides a way for applications to deal with the hardware without having to know all the details of the hardware, and it is the software that makes all the programs work. It organizes and controls the hardware on computers. The operating system is the first software we see when we turn on the computer, and the last software we see when the computer is turned off.The operating system plays the role of the good parent, making sure that each application gets the necessary resources while playing nicely with all the other applications, as well as husbanding the limited capacity of the system for the greatest good of all the users and applications. Even if a particular computer is unique, an operating system can ensure that applications continue to run when hardware upgrades and updates occur.
Here we have a collection of a little over hundred verses, most of which were a part of the common man's knowledge not long ago. These are from the Mahabharata, the Pancatantra, the Hitopadesa, the Subhashita-s of Bhartrihari and such other texts. Some verses teach ethical behavior and some others realistically and bluntly tell about human behavior in different situations. Most of the present day societies are focusing more on imparting job-oriented skills to children, paying little attention to their emotional growth. The governments too are cutting back on the liberal arts which are essential for the emotional intelligence and maturity of our children. Such trends have negative manifestations which are sadly realized at a later stage in life. We realize that progress cannot be at the cost of human values and goals in life. These verses are like the 'box of truisms' and 'words to live by', in Louis Mac Neice's words. They may not be fully understood by the kids straightaway, but they reveal their full flavor as the kids grow and face the realities and problems of life. They are like the time release capsules which release themselves slowly. Dr. Aravinda Rao K.

Development is envisaged is realised often by the implementation of various projects involving investments which are expected to be boon to the respective nations. It not only impose financial burden for a specified time but also involves human displacement, involuntarily from the place of their origin. Nations and international agencies have also stipulated guidelines to implement such projects. India being mixed economy implemented projects on public-private partnership (PPP) and Kerala being first in the nation to have an airport on PPP model displaced 829 families. and another transport project that facilitates container movement (ICTT) which displaced 316 families. Since both involved forced eviction of families, invite a movement from one place to another which has multiple implications to their life. It can either lead to advancement or marginalisation. To understand the status of displaced people of these transport projects of Kerala, India the researcher has undertaken a study using mixed method to collect data from respondents selected for study. The study discloses that the oustees of both projects are experiencing a high level of marginalisation in four dimensions: economic, social, psychological and political. This hinders the achievement of intended wellbeing of oustees. This could have been avoided if there was adequate attention taken to obtain social licensing which promotes economics of recovery and wellbeing of individuals, community and society.
