In the first book of the Evolution Wars, the first man to become fully awake is suddenly shocked into becoming awake in the second of two dreams. The first dream was of four passenger jets all sitting on a tarmac at an airport. He saw the airport break up around them, and they all fell into darkness. Three days later, the four jets all crashed in the 9-11 attacks. The second one years later was even stronger, waking him violently from his sleep. This also woke his wife, and he told her he's had another true dream. After trying to get her to believe him by telling her of the first dream years ago, she still did not believe him. In trying to calm him, she said, "Okay, tell me again. I will listen to the whole dream. I promise." With her promise, he reached for her, and when they touched physically, their minds also touched. She relived the two dreams with him in seconds. From that moment on, they could speak to each other's minds without words. He started working on a plan to escape the city as they both saw all the death and destruction coming today. After they merged, he stared calling his family members in town and his sister living in the south. First his oldest daughter, and then he set about getting things ready to flee the city. They were the first to wake up!The earth had been visited by alien races for many years. The two races were at war, and it had come to earth. The crash at Roswell was the result of one of the ships crashing. The government recovered one dead body and three living beings which they had been holding at a secret holding facility in Nellis Air Force Base. Most believe it's at Area 51. The reason they were here was to stop human's evolution. The one race saw them as a threat. So to stop them, they made deals with the government. They gave them access to new technologies, computers, and new aircraft designs. They were responsible for all the modern wonders they lost in their attack. The purpose of their gifts was to give them items that would slow and eventually stop their growth as a race. They also nursed the negative feeling they suffered from hate, bigotry, and many darker emotions to keep them at war with themselves.

It also explains the effects from uncontrolled reactor accidents like Chernobyl and Fukushima Daiichi in a balanced perspective and explains how the industry has learned from these tragic events to become a much safer one.You will learn about the fission process and how it is controlled, as well as how unstable atoms produce radiation and heat in the reactor core. The book describes how this heat continues to be generated even after a reactor is shut down and thus systems are designed to try to keep the core cool at all times, even during accidents. When a reactor cannot be kept cool, then emergency plans must be activated that provide measures to provide public protection. This book describes how these plans work and are regularly tested. You will also learn about radiation exposure controls that have improved over time and how you can calculate how much exposure to radiation that you personally receive on an annual basis.

The Secrets of Eden's Dam by K. L. Dempsey might be his finest and most personal novel to date. It's everything you'd expect from the author of The Unholy Vengeance and The Vanishing Pharmacist-richly developed characters that allow the reader to be entertained by a mixture of suspense, action, and education of medical issues. The novel begins with Doctor Graham Harding returning to his hometown of Eden's Dam. Once a thriving location where the governor of the state would make special trips to purchase the town's twelve different German sausages along with its outstanding pastries, it was now just another of the many ghost towns that made up North Dakota with their local mysteries and oddities. Today Graham looked across the flowing Sheyenne River at the house that still stood, where his best friend's sister Victoria Hanson had been murdered. He had walked inside that house now for the last twenty years, visualizing her last moments as she had fought for her life against a man who had left but a single clue, a man's expensive cologne with its fragrance on her body and clothes. Harding had made a joint promise with his best friend that they would find the killer and bring him to justice. Now his friend, now dead, leaves the promise still unfilled in the hands of Graham. With the redemptive power that comes from determination, Graham intends to keep his promise. Eden's Dam is a story about promises made and promises kept with a blend of love and tenderness mixed in.
This is a collection of stories provided from personal experiences of Stan Stoops. The stories take place on the east and west coasts of the United States, the Hawiian Islands, the Filipino Islands, and the now nonexistent South Vietnam and finally end up where it all started, in Southeast Iowa. The topics range from stories about inmates, stories about women, and the most preferred subject of all, fishing. There are a few other topics thrown into the mix, hopefully for the enjoyment of the reader. The author's mentality in writing these stories was to crowd the element of humor and to take the best out of each day no matter what the day may have had to offer. So make it a better day, and enjoy reading
The Deceiver has broken free. War is raging across all the kingdoms while the alliance that Staszu has created is near collapse. As the Deceiver links the Well of Shadows to the Spring of Life, gaining the power to oppose the gods themselves, Staszu, their avatar, is taken.
I have read through this book and am really inspired by all the works that Dr. Mueller has done for the Karen hill tribe. The works and experiences that he had with the Karen people in the Karen State are tremendously amazing. This book will bring great understanding for people and foreigners who want to help out, especially those who are sympathetic to the causes and needy people who still lack many things. I enjoyed reading this book. It was a blessing to us Karens that we had someone like Dr. Mueller who helped to bring humanitarian assistance to the remote areas in order to spread the gospel and make things better for others. I deeply thank him for all the works that he has done for our Karen people and other ethnic groups.-Major General Ner Dah Bo Mya, Chief of Staff, Karen National Defense OrganizationDr. Larry Mueller is a pioneering physician who has the longest and most in-depth experience of any medical professional who served in the conflict areas of Burma. He donated significant professional time over twenty-five years serving in the Thai-Burmese border areas. Whether directly treating IDPs (internally displaced persons), or refugees in the border zones with his surgical skill, or training medics, he has been the most revered doctor in these areas and is considered an angel. Dr. Mueller is a brilliant surgeon who is flexible, inventive, and, above all, able to operate successfully in remote locations with very little support. Through his own surgeries and the training that he has imparted to our medics, Dr. Mueller has saved hundreds of lives and had a direct impact on healing and improving the lives of thousands more.-David Eubank, Founder and Director, Free Burma Rangers (www.freeburmarangers.org)

During one of his memorable speeches, President JFK declared, Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country. This speech marked the beginning of the Peace Corps program in the United States, which in turn led a young American to my small farming village of Agadji in Togo, West Africa. This young American sponsored me into the United States in June of 1989, a fulfillment in itself of my fathers secretly held dream to see one of his children educated in an English-speaking Country, better yet in the United States of America. Education has always been very important to my father because he was denied that opportunity due to being an orphan at a very young age. He wished to attend school and become a lawyer or doctor, but instead, he was forced to become a farmer and eventually one of the best-known coffee growers in Togo. In June of 1999, I was able to invite my father to the United States for a year-long visit, during which I was able to enroll him in Kalamazoo Adult Education as another way to fulfill his dream of being a student. In October 2001, I invited my dear mother also to the United States for a year-long visit, giving both my wonderful parents a unique and unforgettable their FIRST plane ride experience. Travel along with me as I journey through a father and sons dream to a better tomorrow.
Remembering Rosie is about Block''s childhood on a Wisconsin dairy farm in the mid-twentieth century. Growing up on the homestead with her parents and siblings was often idyllic. Still, it never stopped Block from dreaming of making a different life for herself despite many obstacles she''d face in trying to leave the land her German great-grandparents settled in the 1880s.Block and her siblings experienced long hours of tedious and dangerous work. Educational opportunities were limited, and the Ludwig children''s one-room school had poorly trained teachers and few books. There was no expectation of girls going on to higher education. Block''s observations of her depressive mother, the drudgery of farm life, and the short, cruel lives of farm animals were driving forces that made her take a path less followed. During a time when going against the grain was difficult, Block''s restlessness and desire to see a world outside her sheltered community catapulted her into a life that the blue-eyed, blond-haired farm girl never could have imagined.
Most times estranged, fate lures two brothers to center stage on opposing sides of northern and southern courtrooms. Siblings are transformed into jaded sparring partners as they battle in the ring of the criminal justice system. Rivalry on steroids, they very much resemble knockoffs of a modern-day Cain and Abel or Jacob and Esau with aggressive, heartless actions that provoke reckless reactions devoid of compassion. Such counter action lead to devastating consequences, which puts into question the moral compass of both brothers. "Justice"-exactly what is it? Brother versus Brother explores the societal phenomenon of "justice" from a northern, urban big-city perspective with diverse ethnic backgrounds and cultures. This extraordinary story reaffirms a "code of justice" spoken of on many occasions by the ancient judges: "In those days...everyone did what was right in his own eyes."
Stuart Baron, a humble Los Angeles trucking executive, endures a near-death experience. He moves his family from an affluent suburb to an Alabama catfish farm with hopes of quenching a midlife crisis. Together with Tabitha, his spell-binding wife, and Winchester, his precocious five-year-old son, he rewrites Murphys law of catfish farming. Their adaption to the Deep South and the ensuing culture shock is overshadowed by a daunting legacy involving a Mexican drug cartel. In the climatic finale, the Baron family, a quirky DEA agent, and a colorful cast of good ol boys make for a powerful romp of old-fashioned justice in the backwoods of west Alabama.
