Throughout life most people have to struggle with making decisions. These decisions not only involve the individual making the decision but also his family and in some cases the public. The life of a law enforcement officer involves all three. This burden is often stressful, taxing one's conscience to the breaking point. The individual has to rely on his family background and values instilled in him throughout his life. A strong faith driving the belief that all has to be fair and honest is viewed as an idealistic approach in which everyone strives toward in making these decisions. To truly adopt this fairness, honesty, and justice philosophy in your life's decisions is extremely difficult in today's world. The tug of war of emotions pulls at one's conscience to make the right decision. Many choose to prostitute their convictions for their jobs, money, status, and power, rationalizing their decisions for personal gain, leaving humanity in ashes. As a law enforcement officer, his daily decisions directly affect his fellow man. This burden is self-inflicted by the individual to do the right thing or to go along with the good-old-boy attitude. The latter accomplishes nothing and is actually looked down upon by the honest public. The people truly want someone they can trust to carry out this honesty and justice philosophy; however, the public has no clue about the sacrifices one has to make in order to achieve these goals. For one to fulfill his mission of striving for fairness and honesty, he has to be a slave of his convictions. At seventy-three, the winter of my life, I often question my life's path. However, not only can I not change it, nor would I want to. I still encounter those negative people who condemned me for my stand for justice. There is nothing I can say to change their minds, which embraces corruption as a badge of honor rather than dishonor. The silent majority hang their heads in disgust not realizing they have the power to change if they just stand up and fight. The reader of the book must evaluate whether or not the main character of the book was, in fact, dedicated to his convictions. By infusing the Diary of Corruption into the book poses to the reader a decision-making process in which he decides whether the diary is proof that corruption exists or this is just the way it is and no one can change these practices. The actual diaries represent twenty-seven years of entries documenting the author's daily life in law enforcement. The author of this book does not seek the approval of his life's path, but rather poses the question. What would you do if you were in his shoes? Walk the walk and talk the talk or be silent because it is too costly.Fairness, Honesty, Justice for all. I hope.11

This is a mystical fantasy about a little girl growing into her power while going through what seemed to be unfathomable odds. These unfathomable odds and traditions impeded her growth into the powerful being she was meant to be. Traditions put into force the day she was born were designed for vengeance. She does not know and does not have a clue that the dreams she has had since she was a child are very real, very real place and how she survived it all. This book alludes to a world of places outside of the world as we know it.She never understood that she was truly different and that from a very young age was encouraged by any means necessary not to embrace that power she could feel but could not explain. Having no guidance, She was in a whirlwind of uncertainty throughout the years.

After presenting my wife with a picture of her, Mom and Dad's house, that I had an artist paint for her, and listening to the poem I wrote, "In this House," of their old home place, I stood proudly while my brother-in-law read the poem and 250 people sat with tears in their eyes and sobs in their tissues.I walked into my niece's house with a simple sheet of paper in my hand. She was preparing to attend her son's funeral and sat crying by the window. I handed her the paper on which I had written the poem, "Hand-in-Hand." She wiped her eyes and read it, then stood up and hugged me."That is so beautiful Uncle Bob. How did you know, 'Lighthouses' were his favorite collection hobby? I had printed the poem on a paper, with a beautiful, faded lighthouse in the background. Poetry expresses what the spoken word sometimes can't!

When I was incarcerated and serving three years, I read a lot of books. Donald Goins became my favorite author because his writing is what I could relate to the most. I also read books written by Terry Woods, Sista Soulja, and David Fisher, among other great authors. I had a cellmate who became a good friend of mine. We shared stories about our lives. One day he told me that we could write a book about all the crimes we had witnessed in our lives. That night I lay in my bed, thinking to myself that of all the books I've read, many of the characters reminded me of some people in my life. That was when I realized I could become a writer. This book is based on two characters, Kevin, and Akeem, who were young thugs born and raised on the streets of Philadelphia. They mastered a hustler's dream of survival and gained respect from others. They were loyal to each other, and their goal was to succeed in the hood where they both grew up. They became cocaine dealers, marijuana smokers, and gun holders. They were outlaws. Despite the passing of time, they were haunted by the streets, and the lust for money caused lost lives. Kevin's experiences made him realize that thug life wasn't the way to live, and through the support of his family, he could become a better person. Akeem, on the other hand, did not share the same views. Any misfortunes made him worse. He felt that the lifestyle of a thug was his only way to succeed. Despite this, the bond between them was never broken. This book is about the experiences of inner-city neighborhoods. It's about the life of thugs and the game that young teens choose to play, especially in the streets of Philly. The never-ending cycle of drugs, violence, love, and loss will continue for generations to come.

The Golden Box came from an idea from the kids' perspective that anything golden is a treasure. The kids in the story would collect different items from the town dump and put them into a box, which they would be influenced by three witches' spell and transferred them back in time and forward into the future struggling to find their one lost friend. There was nothing spectacular about the beat-up cardboard box; it was the contents that made it the golden box. As the saying goes, "One man's garbage is another man's treasure," hence, golden.

Irvin R. Athearn was a pioneer in model trains beginning in the late 1940s. He started in his garage putting together O Gauge metal car kits then expanded them to include HO Scale kits. Around the mid-1950s, as a result of the purchase of Globe models, he began producing the iconic F-7 A and B Units in molded plastic. Soon after that came a whole line of plastic freight cars and locomotives. Our first book, The Standard Guide to Athearn Model Trains, documented the production of those models from the beginning of the plastic models through 1997. The Athearn Collector's Companion covers the original Guide, including models discovered since publication that book, plus all the kits produced until the end of production in October 2009.The original Guide contained approximately 4,000 entries; this book contains about 9,500. We believe you will enjoy the results of our labors as much as we have enjoyed documenting all these model kits...

Fifty light-years away from our planet and just under fifty years ago, two rogue black holes collided. The epic cosmological merger resulted in the creation of the most powerful force in the universe--a gamma-ray burst.Releasing more energy in a few seconds than our own sun will in its entire ten-billion-year life span, it fired away from the center of the newly formed black hole at the speed of light, headed for Earth. With only six months until its arrival, no one is aware that all life is soon to be irradiated out of existence. No one that is except for an amazingly gifted ten-year-old girl with a mild form of autism and her deceased twin brother.Gamma Jean Proctor along with her brother, Ray, learned before his death that they possessed "special" abilities that enabled the twins to enter the world of subatomic particles by using the strength of their minds. In this quantum world, as they came to call it, they were able to discover the impending doom that was fast approaching Earth and even began to devise a way to manipulate particles in that world in a way that could possibly divert the gamma-ray burst. Unfortunately, Gamma's brother along with their father died in a tragic car accident before the twins could finalize their plan. With time running out, Gamma, with the help of her dead brother who she was able to communicate with, reached out with their "special" abilities to enlist the help of three strangers who possessed their own unique gifts. It was hoped that the three strangers, with training from the ten-year-old girl, might be able to replace her lost brother in the twins' plan to save all of humanity.Noted psychiatrist John Tate, movie star Jessie Mortenson, and Princeton doctoral student Beta Whittmere were summoned to the home of Gamma Proctor by a revelation that was imparted to them in a way that they could perceive because of their uniqueness. With the four gathered, they quickly formed a tight bond as they undertook the seemingly impossible task of learning to act as one in the quantum world, a task they would have to quickly master if humanity had any chance for survival.

Despite unprecedented technological developments and material bounty, our nation and the rest of the world face ever-growing moral quandaries. We are still beset with continuous warfare and religious strife along with a litany of other past transgressions. These are all exaggerated by our population growth along with the growing complexity of life. In addition, our technological progress has created even more severe morality quandaries than our ancestors ever imagined.Brilliant figures of the past espoused many, still admired, moral goals for better living. However, they are mostly rhetoric because they didn't provide a rational approach for achieving them. Thus, we are now saddled with a morality that couldn't even cope with a far simpler age.Fortunately, an explosion of knowledge interrelating genetics, evolution, and human physiology has occurred in recent years that can be used to construct a more relevant moral code. One, based on reality, that can lead us to a more equitable and prosperous future.A Better Me A Better World integrates these recent discoveries into a clearer image of reality than any of our revered philosophers could imagine based on their mystical conjectures.Three valid purposes of life are derived from a careful examination of these new discoveries. They are survival, evolution (being the best we can be), and enjoyment. The acronym SEE encapsulates this finding.Next, a physiological morality that guides all human behavior was found. It uses the classic pain-pleasure principle to guide personal behavior toward compliance with the three purposes of life.Next, it was found that the body has always used servo controls to guide all body functions. Servo means using continuous feedback to help control all body actions. The concept was first instituted by man in WWII, being used to guide missiles against targets. Servos are universally applicable. For example, applying them to all laws enacted would eliminate all the out-of-control outcomes we now routinely accept. We will dramatically improve ourselves and the world around us by adopting moral guidelines based on these principles. We are truly living in a time of discovery if we will only open our eyes and SEE.

This a true story. The time line from 1965 to its ending as 2022 begins. It documents the experience of a young warrior growing old as a different kind of combatant and his adventure from Boston to the Caribbean, Rhode Island, Vietnam, Hawaii, California, the Indian Ocean, Ohio, Virginia, and Florida. For Country and Cannabis is a love story; a glimpse into the rigors of a navy career; and a look at a legal, social, and financial war waged over an herb. This is a five-decade-long history that teaches the reader of government lies, malfeasance, and injustice to groups of US citizens and individuals who wanted the option of using therapeutic cannabis as part of their treatment protocols.Almost all of the folks in the book are real and dead. This is a bit of what they did and how. For Country and Cannabis ensures that what remains only now with me, and a small shrinking cabal of advocates, is shared with you. Most of this is as true as I can recall these decades later.

Contrell Leo Floyd teaches in Ambition: The New Era, the New Movement that now is the time to be ambitious, determined, and self-motivated to take that leap of faith to stand for what you believe in no matter what anyone thinks or what society says. The main reason why people are not taking that leap of faith in society is because of the fear of what others think and how they are viewed in the fear of being rejected or blackballed indefinitely by society until one takes that leap of faith to break the cycle to start his own new world movement.
