In WAD the F*ck: Whiplash by Whiplash Shelley, the author writes about her whiplash experience, trauma and recovery.WHIPLASH:A common type of neck injury that basically occurs when the neck jolts backward or forward, sharply and suddenlyA term used for the force that causes the injury, although not for the injury itselfWhat characterizes the injury is neck pain, however there are usually other symptoms tooMoreover, whiplash due to a motor vehicle collision can strain muscles or damage soft tissues in the neckThis story is undoubtedly a moving personal memoir about the author's resilience and perseverance through chronic pain and trauma that lasted for years.Follow her on her journey as she attempts to find happiness once again! Excerpt from WAD the F*ck: Whiplash by Shelley Wrona:"My neck pain has been caused by whiplash. It's the worst kind of overachiever. And, it wasn't just centralized to my neck. It radiated throughout my upper body and affected my shoulders and arms as well as my head, and for me, produced headaches of which I had many. And, don't forget some TMJD, pain in the jaw. Neck/shoulder/jaw pain interferes with your day-to-day activities. Your sleep is affected and spending time with friends and family becomes a chore that you choose to just ignore sometimes. I mixed pain, lack of sleep, and distance from friends, and found myself in a gloomy/depressing place at times. There is no doubt in my mind that I have dispelled any myths and misconceptions I had about this common, yet invisible injury.Whiplash is real and the pain is real."

She Was Never the Same by Susan Glasier is a story about a woman's determination to be fully liberated and independent in a society that aims to suppress these qualities in women. Though readers may find the main character, Amelia aggravating and exasperating, they will admire her determination to fend for herself and to survive, despite the narrowness of the society she was born into and the overprotectiveness of those around her. Born in the late 1800s in Utah, USA, Amelia wrestles with her place in that world. She fights to hold on to her identity and to live her life the way she wants to, despite a society not yet ready for independent women. She is a complex woman who often acts against her own best interests. Her life brings betrayal, deception, rape, murder, illness and death. The author uses imagery, language and tone to paint the periodic setting and draw the reader into that period and time, which makes the book a captivating read and an appealing read for all kinds of readers, and not just those interested in Historical Fiction Excerpt from She Was Never the Same by Susan Glasier: "I feel anxious in this meeting and I feel my hands curl into tight fists. I break into Mr Mongomery's legalistic speech and ask the only question I really want an answer to, "How did Mr. Goutière die? I didn't know he was ill. He always seemed healthy." Even though we are the only ones in the room, Mr. Montgomery lowers his voice as though he doesn't want anyone to hear what he has to say. "He had an accident," he says, his voice condescending and abrupt. I gasp and reach out for Catherine's hand. "What accident?" I ask. "I don't have that answer," he snaps. "All I know is that poor Samuel died much too young." "What about his parents? They would know how he died." "No, his parents are long dead."I glance at Catherine and back at the attorney. "He - Mr. Goutière - " I stumble over his name as if I'd never heard it before. 'Mr. Goutière led me to believe his parents were old and sick.'"

March 2nd, 2020 started like any other. Little did I know the events that started that day would bring about a drastic change to my life. I was sitting in my favorite spot, a leather recliner with my feet elevated and my laptop on my knees. As I sat there playing solitaire, I became aware of my tongue feeling "funny". It was not numb, just fuzzy. As a first aid instructor for the past 30 years, I was well aware of the signs and symptoms associated with a stroke. Immediately I rose and ran to the bathroom to look at myself in the mirror. The face that stared back at me appeared normal, no hint of a droop on either side. Since I had run to the bathroom, obviously there was no problem with coordination. My balance was not affected. Just to confirm, I held out both arms in front of me. Both of them remained steady. Breathing a sigh of relief, I returned to my comfortable chair. At approximately 2 a.m. I awoke. I was still very aware of the fuzzy tongue. Again, I went to the bathroom to check out my face. Just as before, there was no telltale droop and no arm drift. Still feeling uneasy I woke my husband Alvin and told him I felt I needed to go to the hospital. "Should we call an ambulance or can I drive you?" he questioned. This was the start of a 7 month journey from near death to overcoming obstacles the medical profession did not believe I was capable of. Three months were spent with my body trying to heal in order to live, the other four were spent in rehab. My next year and a half culminated in walking with a cane and driving very short distances. Determination and persistence were key elements. This book is about an extraordinary will to not only survive but to thrive.
