Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology is the first book of this type in the market for the M Pharmacy students The book is divided into five units and 20 chapters. The book provides the key insight into topics including recombinant DNA technology, PCR, ELISA, Blotting, Gene therapy, Gene Sequencing, Autophagy, Apoptosis, Micro-Array Technique, Gel electrophoresis, Pharmacogenomics, Gene mapping, Genetic Variations, Proteomics. Genomics, Cell signaling pathways, lmmunotherapeutics, Biosimilars, Animal Cell Culture, Assays and Flow Cytometry. We hope the book will cater the needs of students as well as young faculty in understanding the basic of cellular and molecular pharmacology .
The second edition of the textbook retains the similar style but with expanded contents. It deals with all aspects ranging from concept to practice of pharmacovigilance. It covers the historical background in the evolution of this emerging science, India''s and global scenario, science of pharmacovigilance, and pharmacovigilance of Indian system of medicine. The outstanding features are:┬╖ Written in easy understandable style.┬╖ Updated India''s PV Regulation┬╖ Case studies on drug withdrawal and causality analysis.┬╖ Key messages giving the gist of each chapter. In brief the book is all about learning, developing competencies, practicing and building career in safety monitoring of medicines.
“ESSENTIALS OF HERBAL OPTIONS” is primarily a Compilation of Medicinal Plants with up-to-date scientific information. This book highlights information on Scientific Nomenclature, Local names, Distribution, Parts used, Pharmacological activities and Chemical constituents of different Medicinal Plants. Each chapter contains a good introduction explaining the structures and functions of the responsible organs, the currently used allopathic treatment for the diseases, and the Herbal options and alternatives. This book consists of nine chapters. Chapter 1-7 deal with the uses of medicinal plants as Anticancer, Antidiabetic, Antifertility, Hepato-Protective, Anti-Inflammatory, Anti-Microbial, Anti-Ulcer and chapter-8 consist of Herb-Drug Interactions and chapter-9 shares with Different Analysis Techniques to identify the Phytochemicals of Herbs. The book also includesa glossary of Botanical names, some important Chemical Constituents isolated from Medicinal Plants and Colour Photographs of some Medicinal Plants. The book should prove extremely useful to the Pharmacists, Pharmacologists, Medicinal Chemists, Toxicologists, Pharmacognosists, Botanists, and Herbal / Ayurvedic Manufacturers.
The content of the book, Introduction to Pharmaceutical Analysis, has been prepared primarily in accordance to the syllabus prepared by the Pharmacy Council of India for B. Pharm 1st semester course. However, the content of the book is not limited to the syllabus only, it provides the information which are bare necessary to understand a particular concept but beyond the syllabus. Moreover, there are two Appendices, Appendix I and II at the end. These are equally important and need to be known. One is Test solutions and the other one is for Volumetric solutions. In fact, many students do not know the difference between these solutions that are essential for analysis. How to prepare all these solutions are mentioned there. Hence, the book would be a real helpful to all those who are associated to pharmaceutical analysis, may be during their post-graduation and during service pharmaceutical industry.
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder of impaired metabolism of Carbohydrates fats and proteins, characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from decreased utilization of carbohydrates and excessive glycogenolysis and Gluconeogenesis from amino acids and fatty acids. People with Diabetes mellitus are at higher risks of developing serous diabetic complications such as neuropathy, nephropathy, cataract and heart attacks. Four molecular mechanisms are involved in the development of diabetic complications; increase in the flux of glucose through polyol pathway, increased intracellular formation of advanced glycation end products (AGES), activation of protein kinase C (PKC) and increased flux through the hexosamine pathway. Among these polyol pathway plays a vital role in the development of diabetic complication. In view of the researchers started working on the synthetic compounds for the treatment of diabetic complications. The failure of synthetic compounds because of their low safety and poor pharmacokinetics made look into alternative source from plants / phytochemicals. So in view of these the book gives details about several plants and phytochemicals reported for the treatment of diabetic complications. The book will be valuable for people works as plants/ phytochemicals for treatment of diabetic complications. This book will also useful for the students, Researchers and teachers in the subjects of Pharmacognosy, Botany, Pharmacy, Ayurveda and other Allied Life Sciences.Provides screening methods for Aldose reductase enzyme, AGEs involved in the diabetic complications.Provides a comprehensive information as plants & phytochemicals reported for diabetic complications. It gives an herbal medicine and neutraceuticals used in the treatment of diabetic complications.
“Advanced Pharmacology” aimed to deliver such topics of drugs which are very important to be know by any healthcare professional, but found rarely in any books or library. Complete idea of publishing it, is to provide readers a good platform to study the rare topics in pharmacology. This book is recommended for MBBS, MD (Pharmacology), DM (Clinical Pharmacology), Pharm D., M. Pharm and B. Pharm students or any other healthcare professionals. The book is a strong learning aid for post graduate teaching and also helps clinicians or other heathcare professionals understand the pharmacological basis of pharmacotherapeutics through thematic flow diagrams and logical explanations for specialized topics in pharmacology to ease the reading. Book is divided into three sections; Initial two sections of the book deal with basic aspects of clinical pharmacology, regulation and therapeutics; also address the most recent advances in the field. Third section is thoroughly updated to provide readers with an ideal reference that covers wide range of neglected but important topics. It also provides a rich collection of material on critical areas such as medication errors, rational use of drugs, self medication, drug compliance etc. Several other essential regulations framed in India for drugs have been incorporated in the chapters drug policy, drug pricing, orphan drugs etc. Further, critical issues in pharmacology like usage of drugs in pregnancy, renal and hepatic complications, drug-drug interactions etc. are also addressed in a point specific manner to simplify the language to readers. Emerging topics in medical fields like regenerative medicine, nanomedicine, electronic prescribing (e-Rx), drug surveillance systems like Pharmacovigilance, Haemovigilance, Materiovigilance etc. are well explained. Hope, “Advanced Pharmacology”, will fulfill the demand and need of healthcare professionals by covering the important and rare topics on drugs.
