The book has been developed based on the syllabus of the Senate of Serampore College on Human Sexuality and Gender Diversities for B.D. graduates. Written from a context where churches and religious communities at large have considered the issues related to gender diversities and sexuality as taboo, the book proposes to be a relevant starting point for any serious theological engagement on the topic. It requires courage to embark on a theological journey which discerns the human understanding on this issue and thereby take a prolife and transforming journey ahead. The National Council of Churches in India has strived to promote life, justice and peace related in this regard, since 2001, taking a prophetic stance to engage churches and theological colleges in this regard. Roger Gaikwad serves the National Council of Churches in India as the General Secretary, since 2010, whereby he also contributes as an exofficio member of the Board of Theological Education of the Senate of Serampore College, besides the various other Christian organizations in India. Notably, his services as the Director of the Senate Centre for Extension and Pastoral Theological Research through the previous decade saw key changes in the curriculum of the Bachelors of Divinity course of the Senate. He has also been a Professor at the Aizawl Theological College for a long time, serving the college as its Principal. He continues to provide a dynamic leadership as the Project Head of the NCCI - ESHA Program which focuses on engaging churches and theological colleges with human sexuality and gender diversities.Thomas Ninan serves the National Council of Churches in India as the General Coordinator of the ESHA Program, looking after the program implementation. He is an alumni of St. Thomas Orthodox Theological Seminary, Kamleshwar, an ordained minister of the Indian Orthodox Church, and has worked in the ecumenical field, extensively in the area of Substance Abuse, HIV and AIDS and Healing Ministry among churches and theological colleges with the Christian Medical Association of India. Hearing, Preaching and the Indian Congregation is an attempt to develop a new homiletic for India based on how the Christian people in Indian congregations hear sermons. While it certainly has a point of view, its primary concern is to provide preachers with the tools necessary to preach sermons that are heard by members of Indian congregations at the deeper levels of their being. Thus the aim is practical and the chapters cover issues affecting not only the sermon's substance but also the ways in which it is developed and presented. It is based on five assumptions: (1) the general aim of preaching, whatever the specific message may be, is to be heard; (2) hearing is facilitated or hindered as much by the form as by the substance of the sermon; (3) a message addressed to the receivers' imaginations may be heard more deeply and with greater effect than one addressed to their intellect or emotions; (4) what is most important to people, and thus what they hear most acutely, is a message concerning their identity; and (5) that God is the sender of the message and such hearing is therefore an experience of being addressed by God and not just by the preacher.

Jose Vallikatt gathers various experts in this timely book to discuss mercy in a cultural context where legalism and idolatry are magnified more than mercy. Communicating Mercy inspires us to live an on-going life driven by the spirit of mercy. Mercy yet to become the surname of every Christian. This book covers a range of aspects - peoples, social life, environment, authority - in relation to mercy. It presents the time-tested Catholic concept of mercy encountering the secular and secularized world. The Church, which was hitherto viewed almost contemptuously as wielding merely justice, is beginning to be seen also as Mother of Mercy. Therein lies the strength and significance of this immensely readable and timely work. "Communication of God's mercy is the very identity of the Church and this book calls us to nourish it in our existential dialogue with the challenges and concreteness of everyday life. Examples from Pope Francis, the prophet of mercy, decorates many pages of this book. Pastoral care and missionary engagement has to be located in the gamut of an economy comprised of God, man, society and the creation. Only a holistic spiritual vision that includes all these can cure the problems of the world and lead it to development and peace. Mercy is the medicine for an ailing world.

"It is not my task here to attempt a chronological account of the ministerial journey my late friend George Ninan undertook to be a loyal disciple of Jesus, but to recall his main concern for the Church and Society in India in order to engage partnership with one another to enable the realization of a common goal in building the nation on sure foundations of Justice, Peace and Integrity of God's creation. This book will help readers understand how God used cities to reach out to lost human kind. Some of the examples highlighted in the scripture are brought to the readers notice to understand the urgency of diaspora mission in these last days. The book emphasizes that every Christian living in cities has been brought there for fulfilling the eternal purpose of God in saving the world. The author reflects this truth by his vision of transforming migrated life into mission life in Bangalore city. This is a timely and very urgent concern. It is the responsibility of the people who have experienced salvation from Jesus Christ to transform their migrated life into mission life. Through this book the author encourages everyone, especially Christian Tamils to reach out to people of this great city.

When pastors and lay leaders pray over things and people, they ask God to "sanctify" them. Sanctification means to make things or people "holy." God sanctifies what pastors and lay leaders "bless." Saying a blessing is, therefore, not mere utterance of words. To bless is an act of faith. This book shows how blessings should be said for "water", people, things, functions and our abilities. It is a must-have for pastors and lay leaders.
