  • av Birger Sjöberg
    200 - 268,-

Birger Sjöberg, born in 1953 in Stockholm, grew up in an overclass family with seven siblings. His father was a physician and ran a private practice for almost 30 years. Illness in the family and his father's drug addiction made the young man take on a lot of responsibility from early on. His older brother's influence and his own longing for adventurous travels nudged him towards anything and everything sea-related, and eventually made him into a professional sailmaker. Spending every summer of his childhood on an island by the Swedish west coast, where he would roam about in all kinds of floating vessels, only contributed to his romanticised view of adventure. His mother, a seamstress and a nurse, encouraged him to "go for it", to challenge himself and explore the world. At the age of 13 he worked as a farmhand in France, and at 17 he went to the US on the merchant ship M/S Rubens, initiating a chain of events that have been depicted in several of his books. In the years that followed, he engaged in numerous challenges, yielding hard earned experiences on ships and boats. But, to quote the author himself: "They all turned out to be pretty great stories".Tales from the Sea is a collection of true stories, from a time when arranged and scheduled travelling was not yet invented, that takes the reader on an armchair voyage through a world of adventures.

    av Alexander Firestone
    200,-

Alexander Firestone always wanted to be a teacher but felt that in order to know what was important to teach, he should be out in the real world to see what he was able to do with his present education. Upon graduation from the University, he secured a position as a Research Physicist working on new types of rocket propulsion for deep space exploration. In the first week, he realized that his present education ill-equipped him as a problem-solver working on new ideas. This was the beginning of What, How, and Why. After successfully working on the projects he was assigned, he realized he was ready for teaching. Over the last 50 years he has used his teaching and classroom experiences as a laboratory, developing What, How, and Why learning.I still get telephone calls this very evening (student from Westmount College in Christchurch) former students wanting to know how I'm doing and sharing their classroom experiences with me as a teacher. That was nearly 40 years ago. I'm a very passionate teacher who has taught for over 40 years and still teaches casually full-time. I am probably the oldest Mathematics teacher in Australia who is a passionate Mathematics teacher and is still able to teach full time. My teaching positions include classroom teacher, HOD mathematics, Principal, University lecturer in China. I have over 8 years of part-time experience doing post-graduate university study on What, How, and Why. Three in China and five at Griffith University in Queensland. I have presented papers and given Talks at International Education Conferences in Australia, and New Zealand.

The Foundlings and the Fisherman from Tumby chronicles the remarkable and meaningful lives of John and Margaret Treves, a couple beset by daunting challenges and tragedies. Despite their setbacks, the couple contribute whole-heartedly to the needs of the children at the mission and the lepers from the colony. Amidst the duality of light and darkness, land and sea, and the eternal conflict between good and evil, readers are invited to explore the profound meaning of selflessness and sacrifice. The writing is rich in allegory. John Treves's interaction with the tyrannical merqueen is analogous to the wicked, corrupt elements in our world today. The charity of John and Margaret transforms Tumby into a special place where surely they are remembered for their selfless contributions to society as opposed to the merqueen's insatiable thirst for power and wealth.

What picture does the Bible paint about the future? Many Christians are scared, worried and anxious about the future. They are in a spiritual fog about what will happen, or, will not happen. They are baffled, confused, and overwhelmed by the mountains of Scripture about the prophecies and events of the end times. They are intimidated at the seemingly incomprehensible number of words used to define prophecies and end times events. They really do not understand that the Bible has much to say about our future; in fact, one-fourth of the Bible is about prophecy and end time events, about half of which are yet to occur. My books are about the prophecies and end times in the Bible that are (a) yet to come true in our history and (b) those prophecies from the past that have a bearing on future events. The first volume provides the background, concepts, and theology necessary to study prophecy and end times. The second volume discusses the many prophetic events that are to occur in the future. My books will bring you hope that the future is fully arranged and will occur in a specific sequence as described in the Bible. It will help you develop a solid foundation on the future of God's Plan for Humankind.I consider (as well as many other prophecy authors, scholars, and teachers) that the times in which we live are in the midst of the end of the biblical end times. Many things are happening all around us.These books were written from the following viewpoints:¿ LITERAL INTERPRETATION¿ FUTURISTIC¿ DISPENSATIONAL¿ PRETRIBULATIONAL¿ PREMILLENNIAL¿ CHURCH DOES NOT REPLACE ISRAEL

This book in my opinion is and has a great purpose, and that is to show the reality of our life. You can have great times, frustrating times, traumatic times, funny times etc. But through all those times , God is always there with you, He isn't pushy, never forceful, and always loving and accepting. As a kid growing up, I found it hard reading a book about one plot, one story, dragging on and on. I would give up after 5 to 10 pages, no offense to other authors. The great thing about this book is it has 15 chapters, with different types of stories, each chapter with different characters, but each chapter is based on events on my life. All true events, showing that even after you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, real life happens, and your choices can either take you forward or push you back, you can only hold yourself accountable for your choices. But ultimately, if you place Jesus at the Center of your life, then He has your back. He will never ever leave you or forsake you.

This book is about art, works by Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) and about Richard Lee Barton (1952-2021), the American artist who also lived in Brabant for a long time, not far from Nuenen, once the hometown of the Van family Gogh. Although the works are very different, there are plenty of similarities in the background of both artists, the fight against Catholicism is one of them, neither of them was really accepted here, what a farmer does not know he simply does not eat, but that's beside the point. Both were involved in the faith and came from a family of pastors, many of Richard's and family's ancestors were pastors, you could almost say that the Bartons Christianized America, although the most important work in South America was perhaps done by Jan van Herpen, once a priest and missionary. Read all the complications in this book and try to understand how two worlds came together, its magic has a deep meaning, and that was precisely what Richard tried to portray in his paintings, something he succeeded wonderfully well in, in the second part of this series more about that, this is just the beginning.
