The Eagle And The Serpent: WHY DO THE UNGODLY PROSPER?- WHY DO THE UNGODLY PROSPER?- IS MIGHT RIGHT?- CAN THE POOR BE SAVED BY THE PITY OF THE RICH?Redbeard Versus TolstoyWhy Do The Ungodly Prosper? From No. 18 of "The Eagle and the Serpent" published in London in 1898. It is a symposium of opinions declared by some of the foremost sociological thinkers of Europe and America. It includes answers of Benjamin Kidd, Bernard Shaw, B. R. Tucker, Wm. H. Thompson, Geo J. Holyoake, Canon Scott Holland, Bertram Dobell, Prof. Thos Common (translator of Nietzsche). Aylmer Maude (translator of Tolstoy), and others including Dr. Alfred Russell Wallace, the great apostle of Natural Selection-who in later publications positively declares that modern civilization taken in its entirety is a clanking juggernaut. The arguments presented are positive and startling. This brutally outspoken egoist publication includes essays and works by Lord Erwin McCall (John Basil Barnhill), Malfew Seklew, Ragnar Redbeard. A special edition for all light-shunners out there.

Ignatius Donnelly's Caesar's Column: A Story of the FutureIntroduction by Arthur DesmondA dangerously revolutionary futuristic novel with a dystopian theme in a New York setting. The book is luridly fascinating. 1988, New York, the scene of the story, is an earthly heaven, where man (or rather, capitalism) has brought nature under foot, and chained science to his car as a slave. Airships scour the atmosphere. Electricity threads the earth. Money is the only god, and human brotherhood has perished from off the face of the earth. One-seventh of the entire population riot in soulless luxury. The great bulk of the people lead and live the lives of brutes lower than the beasts that perish. Then comes the inevitable crash. Civilisation in the twentieth century totters over the brink of Tophet, and falls into an abyss of chaotic Sheol, in which all art, science, beauty and loveliness perish together. The French Revolution is a child's dream compared to the horrors conjured up by the writer of Caesar's Column. The outlook for humanity for thousands of years afterwards is blacker than midnight. To-day the ignorant mob triumphs over the brutal plutocracy. To-morrow it will starve. The day after it will devour its own flesh and blood; and civil government of the rudest kind will take long, long centuries to re-establish itself.

Much of his work was published during his lifetime in Germany in book-form, and not translated or available in English until years later. He was a keen observer with a sense of humor, and his stories are interesting as showing the impact of the Australian bush and bush-life on Continental Europeans.A Thousand Books of Fame series(c) 2021 Ragnar Redbeard, Archive & Publisher. • - A Radical Demagogue
av Arthur Desmond & Robert Carmonius
    211,-

ARTHUR DESMONDA RADICAL DEMAGOGUEArthur Desmond (1859-1929), a young local Napier, a common worker, a cattle-drover, came from nowhere as 'a representative of the small settler and the working man' when he stood for parliament in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand in 1884. Mr. Desmond caused quite a big stir in the political establishment as an unknown candidate with his strong and radical views. He lost to Captain Russel, and came last at a third place with 190 votes against Capt.Russel's 564, and Mr. Sutton's 381. This compilation will not try to say or explain anything other than what has already been reported by the press between 1884-1885. What it will do is give you Arthur Desmond's first ever speeches, commentary, correspondence, and articles filled with critique and praise. Poetry, and Politics-Love, and War, well, maybe not soo much love. Later, we have learned that Arthur Desmond lived a life under many different names, one of the most notorius was Ragnar Redbeard, under which he wrote the infamous, and supressed book Might is Right, published in 1896. Another, and much less widely known nom de plume he used for a brief period was "Keo Kaha," a Maori signature which means Strong Point.Enjoy this little "scrapbook," a time-piece of the political radical Arthur Desmond. From cattle-drover to Radical Demagogue.A compilation of articles related to Arthur Desmond's first political steps in the 1884 Hawke's Bay election, New Zealand. Stunning articles about the labor movement, unpublished poetry, and historic Maori translations. Caricature depictions accompanied by writings which caused its author to be accused of plagiarism. In June 1890 Arthur Desmond got his article "Christ as a Social Reformer," published in "Zealandia," a Dunedin magazine. The article quickly became popular and in October he arranged for it to be printed as a pamphlet by Mr. Arthur Cleave, of Vulcan lane. Presented here for the first time since then is Arthur Desmond's accused article followed by Mr. Van Deusen's article "Ecclesiastical Christianity versus Jesus." "Writings in Red" is a collection of Desmond's writings, poetry, and correspondence. All his published works in Zealandia. His Union and strike articles. Critiques and controversy between the years 1889-1891."The author treats the subject in a style that is new to many in this city. The Tribune recommends this pamphlet to its readers." -The TribuneFrom the Contents: The King That Is To ComeThe Starving Poor Of Old EnglandShearing The ShareholdersPolitical Manifesto Of United LabourWho Pays For All?New Zealander Arthur Desmond, (1859-1929) was a poet, author, unionist, and agitator.
