This book presents the first systematic study of the 100-year history of translation, research, reception, and influence of Central and Eastern European literature in China from the late Qing Dynasty to the end of the twentieth century. This study of Eastern European literature from the perspective of Sino-foreign literary relations is based on extensive research into the translation and reception of Central and Eastern European writers such as Milan Kundera, Sándor Pet¿fi, Henryk Sienkiewicz, Julius Fucik, and Bertolt Brecht. Since the late nineteenth century, the major Chinese writers have paid special attention to the literature of the marginalized Eastern European nations when they have to translate from translations since few of them understand Eastern European languages. The book seeks to identify what attracted the founders of new Chinese literature to Eastern European literature and to define its unique significance for the construction of modern Chinese literature.
This book investigates how translanguaging is employed for pedagogical purposes and describes how speakers use translanguaging in specific multilingual contexts. It examines the beliefs and perceptions that shape translanguaging in different public spaces and interrogates the notion of translanguaging through the lens of various Philippine public spaces. This book also focuses on the breakthroughs that may be achieved through translanguaging in the academic field and other domains. It presents studies conducted in the Philippines, a multilingual and post-colonial setting where many multilingual speakers engage in translanguaging practices while recognizing the significance of each language in their communication repertoire in expressing their ideas and identities. It provides insights and knowledge on the current language practices in basic and tertiary education and offers more information about the crucial role of translanguaging in the government, media, and church domains in the Philippines. While this book mainly covers the use of translanguaging in various domains in the Philippines, it remains relevant to other multilingual societies around the world. Being a highly multilingual society, the Philippines serves as a global case study for understanding multilingualism. This book demonstrates how blocks to translanguaging may be overcome and explores possibilities that may be considered in introducing it as an effective pedagogical and communication tool. It emphasizes the importance of recognizing the translingual paradigm as a strong force that has been adopted by multilingual language users to promote empowerment and equity.
This book systematically discusses the workability, mechanical properties, water stability, and material design methods of ultra-high ductility magnesium phosphate cement-based composites (UHDMC) with PVA fibers, PE fibers, or hybrid fibers. The developed UHDMC possesses strain-hardening behavior, multi-cracking, and ultra-high ultimate tensile strain, which can be used in many engineering projects, such as rapid repair and strengthening of airport runways, roads, bridges, and military installations. Meanwhile, this book covers the development of sprayable UHDMC, which further expands the application scope of UHDMC. This book is expected to provide some technical guidance for the development and design of UHDMC. The book is intended for graduate students who are interested in the ductility improvement of magnesium phosphate cement-based composites, researchers investigating the mechanical properties (strength, toughness, etc.), water stability, microstructure, and sprayabilityof magnesium phosphate cement-based composites, and engineers working on rapid repair of concrete structures.

This book highlights the photogalvanic effects at low dimensions, surfaces, and interfaces, more specifically 2D materials, such as graphene and monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides. Although the phenomenology of the photogalvanic effects, which can be simply seen as photoresponse nonlinear-in-electric field, have been well-established, the microscopic understanding in each material system may vary. This book is a quick reference and a detailed roadmap starting from phenomenology and continuing with the ultimate low dimensional materials, in which the photogalvanic effects can offer a rich platform at the second-order response to an electric field. A general phenomenology of photogalvanic effect is provided in the first chapter, together with the photon drag effect which also generates a photocurrent like the photogalvanic effect, but with some distinct features, as well as somewhat puzzling similarities. Next two chapters explain these effects in graphene, starting with a necessary related background on graphene, then a particular focus on its specific phenomenology, microscopic theory, and experimental results. In a similar fashion, in chapters four and five, a necessary background for the photogalvanic effects in monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides, with symmetry analysis, microscopic theory, and experimental results is presented, along with the Berry curvature dependent photocurrent, which can also play an important role in 2D semiconductors. The second-order photogalvanic effects that have been covered so far in graphene and monolayer transition metal chalcogenides have already excited the 2D semiconductor optoelectronic research community by several means. It seems that the interests on the photogalvanic effects will continue to escalate in near future.

In addition, this research investigates implications of Japan¿s Global Health Strategy for Japan¿s global health diplomacy at the event of the G7/G8 summits, especially the 2023 G7 Hiroshima Summit. Finally, this book identifies multiple global health actors that constitute the emerging and changing global health architecture in the post-COVID-19 world.
This book explores the philosophical foundations of communication studies, suggesting that communication phenomena extend beyond the scope of traditional scientific methods. It argues that communication, deeply intertwined with human behavior, cannot be fully comprehended through empirical methods alone. The book presents an epistemological alternative to empiricism in communication studies¿an alternative rooted in the praxeological perspective. Drawing from the principles of rationalism, it proposes that conclusions about communication can be deduced from a priori theoretical truths, rather than empirical evidence. This book is a crucial resource for scholars in both philosophy and communication studies.
This book discusses the role of microbes in agriculture for plant attributes, soil fertility, and bio-remediation, which aid in sustainable agriculture. Nowadays, due to increase in human population, it is essential to increase food productivity in the near future, but exhaustive non-sustainable agricultural practices such as the usage of agrochemicals threaten food security, the economy, and the environment globally. Soil deterioration is the most serious environmental threat to food production, resulting in poverty and hunger in developing countries. As a result, the global community has faced challenges regarding the development of ecologically sound, efficient, and long-term alternative options to meet rising food requirements. Therefore, to contribute to food security, the advancement of sustainable and innovative modern agriculture aimed at addressing environmental, economic, and social challenges connected with present intense non-sustainable agriculture practices is required. As a result, beneficial microbial inoculants will be widely used in the development of new strategies to increase sustainable food production. Bioinoculant application helps to provide nutrients that directly support soil health and sustainable food production. Hence, this book offers the role of microbial inoculants for better agronomical performance for sustainable advancement in agriculture and also pays attention to soil health improvement for extensive period benefits. The book will be highly recommended for agriculture microbiologists, agronomists, plant pathologists, and related areas.
