After hitchhiking my way through Italy with two girlfriends when I was only 20 years old, it sparked an interest in this remarkable country that I desired to know more about. That summer adventure would result in nine more trips over the years with family and friends. I chronicled those travel excursions that took place within a 45-year span in journals, resulting in the writing of this book.Travel back in time and experience a summer in Italy and more while reading this extraordinary memoir. About the Author: Dee Davidson Dosch was born in Oklahoma and grew up in Springfield, Missouri. She has lived in Illinois, Colorado, and Washington State, but currently once again resides in Springfield, the heart of the Ozarks. She is the mother to three adult children and five grandchildren. After retiring from the medical field, the author became interested in genealogy and still loves to travel. She and her husband now spend their summers on beautiful Table Rock Lake in Branson, Missouri. This is her third book.

  • av David John Wiles
    338,-

At the start of World War II, the British government determined the railway in East London would be vulnerable to heavy bombing by Germany. Children in the area were evacuated into the countryside to save their lives. Among the children sent to the West Country for the duration of the war were Tom and Billy Hedge. Their train journey to Cornwall was long and tiring. When the brothers finally arrived at the Applegate Farm in Netherton, where they were to be fostered, Billy stated, "I don't like it here, Tom," and that night, they silently cried themselves to sleep. The Applegates had two children: a son, Joshua, who at thirteen was a year older than Tom, and a daughter, Queenie, aged nine and a half, just six months younger than Billy. Tom found farm work to be hard and tedious, while Billy relished looking after the chickens, and later, the horses. Billy and Queenie bonded right from the start and became inseparable. They shared numerous adventures in the small village, including meeting a local ghost and helping an army deserter. After the war, and just before Christmas 1949, the two married. "I enjoyed being transported back in time and the story was like a finely woven tapestry," wrote an Amazon reviewer.Author Bio: David John Wiles' journey through life has been nothing if not exciting and full of interest. He worked with three film studios as a stagehand and camera grip, and then at three major television companies, in England and Australia. Initially a prop hand, then production buyer, and finally a senior production buyer, he took early retirement at the end of 1989.

  • - A Question Asked, an Answer Given
    av Michael Scanlon
    147,-

This thought-provoking and challenging book aims to stimulate readers to understand and work towards true happiness. Within these pages, London-based author Michael Joseph Scanlon issues a searching critique of the postmodern world, and its ways of thinking and operating, from the viewpoint of traditional spirituality. It contrasts this with earlier times and traditional civilisations that lasted many centuries before colonialism and then globalisation. It ends by outlining how true happiness looks in today's world. Says the author, "My creativity operates in bite-sized awarenesses. The challenge was taking these nuggets and weaving them into a consistent, cohesive tapestry that flowed in such a way as to transport the reader on an unusual, but still vital journey." About the Author: Michael Joseph Scanlon was born in Northern Ireland in 1961. He has lived in England, Cyprus, and Indonesia. "These varying cultures fed into my creativity. I learned to respect the traditions of all these countries, and this evenhandedness is a theme of my book." He is a full-time author.

Once the first Buffalo broke through to the hive, it was swarmed all over with Keef. The other Buffalo then broke from their single file and made their way to the side of the first. They were swarmed over as well. The Keef moved up their legs, onto their backs, into their shaggy manes and over their tail ends. The Keef swarmed everywhere, hundreds of them for each of the Buffalo, crawling, biting, chewing, and attacking the Buffalo until the Buffalo were not there, only a swarm of a moving black mass. Still, the Buffalo moved on. All three dropped a little from view as they descended into the hive. We were above them and could still see them. The hive was enormous, so enormous it must have contained millions of Keef. The first Buffalo to reach the hive kept on in a straight direction, the two on each side began to fan out, appearing to seek the edges of the hive. Then the first one dropped.Author Bio: John L. Mitchell, Jr. is an enrolled member of the Chippewa Cree Tribe on Rocky Boy's Reservation in Montana. He has worked various jobs and trades, spending the bulk of his time in a futile attempt to understand creation. Today, while he has not given up on understanding, he has evolved to simply enjoy nature.
