Pain medicine is a relatively new field of medicine. Although easing pain has been an imperative in medical practice from the beginning of medical care, we know very little about how to effectively treat pain. The last three decades has been close to an explosion of knowledge of the mechanisms, chemistry, and biology of pain but with a slow uptake in translating that knowledge to medical care. There have been some important advances in how to care for pain but the public and most medical practitioners are still unaware. This state of affairs makes it very clear why this important anthology needs to be read. One of the important things we have recently learned about pain is that it is complex. There are many different kinds of pain and there are many different responses to the types of treatments. PainTamers collects the thoughts and perspectives of several people living with pain and several medical experts who practice different types of pain medicine. Pain is complex, as complex as the subject matter. Taken together, the patient stories and the perspectives of the multiple medical practitioners, PainTamers creates a complex weave that mirrors the challenge of understanding pain. You hear from doctors, scientists, psychologists, rehabilitation specialists, massage therapists, acupuncturists, and many patients, and collectively, you begin to appreciate the challenges of living with pain and of helping people manage pain. - Will Rowe, CEO, American Pain SocietyHelen M. Dearman lives with her husband near Houston, Texas. She has been a chronic pain sufferer since surviving a snow skiing incident in 1975. It wasn''t until 1985 that she learned she had fractured her back in three places. "I am not a chronic pain or a chronic pain patient; rather I am a person who has pain. I like to think I define the pain instead of it defining me."http://SBPRA.com/HelenMDearman

The Prayer of Silence provides a strikingly new, easy to learn, and effective method of meditation and prayer. A Near Death Experience in 1966 opened an area of spiritual awareness which Bruce Fraser MacDonald, PhD calls "the Watcher," through which he was able to heal both his badly damaged body and, later, severe brain damage from viral encephalitis. In The Prayer of Silence he shows others how to use the Watcher to find physical, emotional and spiritual healing, and how to get in touch with the divine centre of their being -- what Jesus called "the inner Kingdom of God." Practicing the Prayer of Silence opens profound areas of spiritual awareness and allows people to experience the Presence of God, to know God as Jesus did, as "Abba, Father," to talk to God as Moses did, "as a man talks to his friend" and to find Oneness with God. Bruce MacDonald''s greatest contribution to the science of spiritual growth is his discovery of the Watcher, which allows people to progress rapidly and with comparative ease into areas of spiritual awareness which till now have been very difficult to achieve.About the Author: Raised in India, Canada and the US, Professor MacDonald has lectured, taught and conducted research in many universities around the world. He draws with equal ease from ancient spiritual and philosophical traditions, the teachings of Jesus, and modern science to describe a spiritual system that actually transforms lives. He writes with a simplicity and effortlessness which makes even the most difficult subjects clear.Publisher''s website: http://www.strategicpublishinggroup.com/title/ThePrayerOfSilence.html

Former U.S. Army Green Beret Dan Halevi, now an Israeli Mossad officer, could have stopped the attack on 9/11, but the information never clicked in his mind. Now he has a chance to redeem himself. Intelligence reports indicate that terrorists are ready to set off nuclear devices in New York and London. This time he won''t let it happen. Praise for Spyder Hole:Bob Nesoff is a gifted and experienced writer who knows his subject. His knowledge of tactics and techniques is phenomenal. The story held my attention and had me waiting for the next chapter to learn what the Mossad, CIA and MI-6 operatives were up to in their quest to block an international terror plot. It was reminiscent of actual incidents hidden under a cloak of ''Eyes Only'' material. Nesoff knows his subject and keeps the pace moving like an Indiana Jones movie. In fact, if Hollywood is smart, this will be made into a movie. - Thomas H. Needham, Maj. Gen. (Ret.) U.S. Army Spyder Hole grabs and holds you from the first page. It pulls you into a dangerous and treacherous world of black ops and political intrigue.
