I am Melanie Guice and I hope you enjoy my book. I wanted to show you how our God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh day. When I asked my Grandmother "How was the world created?" She explained it to me and then went out to buy me my own bible. I was so excited to learn how God created the world. (Children of Color Story Book Bible 2019) After reading it, I wanted to draw and write the story.
This is a book about perseverance and hope. This story all came about due to my Quaker Parrot, Harley, flying away due to being spooked by fireworks, on a rainy 4th of July night, last year while I was away on vacation. I came home immediately and began my search to find him. I put fliers all around town, joined local Community groups in my area, lost and found parrot sites on social media, and every morning drove all around calling out his name and whistling for him. It was a full-time job. But I never gave up hope. Six weeks later, he was found fifty-two miles away from my home. The best part about it is how I got it to be illustrated. I had a couple of friends who offered to do it, but due to their work schedules, they understandably, couldn't find the time. I ended up calling the local High School Art Department on the suggestion of a friend, to see if they would be interested in taking on the project. They thought I was crazy at first. But after repeated calls, they took a chance with me and agreed to do it. Each student was assigned a page and drew what they "saw" when they read it. They were as excited as I.This book is not only a project of my heart, but it gave these kids a wonderful opportunity at an early age to have their work published in a book, and a great start to a resume if they choose to pursue illustration as their profession down the road....

Without question, having competent women in leadership can certainly enhance the vitality of any organization. Sadly, too often women are not given equal opportunities and are left doubting their sense of self and their abilities. In Eve, Where Are You?, Dr. Nicole Davis uniquely evaluates bias practices within one specific organization: the Christian church. You'll learn why many women are discouraged, emotionally absent, leaving churches, or considering giving up religious pursuits altogether. Within these pages, Dr. Davis thoughtfully contemplates the scriptural significance of God's creation of Eve; compares women's leadership advances in the marketplace and church; and shares real-life stories and perceptions about women in leadership offered by present-day church leaders. As a conflict coach and resolutionist, Dr. Davis boldly addresses possible causal effects of toxic practices against women and then offers strategic solutions and guidance to both women and church organizations to facilitate reconciliation, creating opportunity for the church to regain influence and effectiveness in our culture.Crisp, aggressive, and truthful, this study presents a call to action for women who want more, men who want more for women, and church organizations seeking to embrace internal transformation against gender bias in the Christian church.
We live in a time of remarkable discovery. The world of quantum physics is revealing that the sub-atomic, ?energetic? level of creation relates directly to our health both physically and emotionally. Rapid and effective healing treatments of many kinds have arisen out of this discovery but they have been developed from a new age worldview. Subsequently, these advances have been considered off limits for the Christian community. But the Splankna Therapy Institute is changing that.In this groundbreaking book Sarah J. Thiessen teaches us how to think redemptively in our current healing culture. Grounded in scripture, she walks the reader through the two main arguments against the Christian?s use of energy healing techniques: new age and witchcraft. She leaves the reader with new clarity and empowerment. The energetic level of creation belongs to God. It?s time He got the credit for it.?Being open to discover creative, non-conventional ideas and methods of healing is like discovering the earth is round when the predominate belief states it is flat. Read this book with an open, thoughtful, prayerful mind and heart to discover new understandings of holistic Christian healing.?Dr. Eddie Parish, L.MFT, Parish Hermitage Inc., LA
God wants to speak to us ...In life, sometimes things aren't as they seem. The harbor looks so peaceful, so comfortable, but is it? We search for satisfaction anchored in the harbor, but God has called us for a life of bold adventure out in the uncharted waters. In opposition, the world distracts us with the illusion that material possessions, prestigious titles, and superficial beauty will deliver satisfaction. This distraction creates an insatiable thirst for peace that can't be quenched without a close relationship with God.When we leave the seemingly safe confines of the harbor and explore the deep, life-giving waters, we find truth and fulfillment of our identities in Him. Reducing the distractions of our busy lives, while connecting with God and other believers in community, will transform and transport us to our God-given destinations. These revelations provide us the peace we have been seeking all along. Are you ready to answer the call?
