This is a tale not only about a long walk but also about the day-by-day evolution of our mental and physical transformation during one memorable month in France. This story is about our walk across southwestern France from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean in September and October of 1995. This adventure was so special to both of us that when we excitedly related incidents to friends and family, they encouraged us to write down our memories before they faded into the inevitable, unreliable, and irretrievable gray matter, details lost forever. Most of the text comes from the journals that we maintained daily. Sometimes, however, depending on how tired we were or how much local wine we consumed, the journals were not as complete as they could have been and we probably have lost some details. In spite of that, we think that we have accurately captured most of the adventure.

Not long after that case is resolved, he becomes involved in two other cases involving a man who wears disguises and a grave digger. The story ends with Benny sitting in the park observing the Hudson/Athens Lighthouse. He is curious about a knapsack he had noticed previously hung up on the rocks by the old landmark; definitely worth checking out.

The problems come from clashes of personality between the principal characters. One witch is a kleptomania, another a dipsomania, another a smelly gypsy medium in a sacking dress held together with rope. There is also a time travelling dwarf, who met the Cat while lost in Limbo and is adopted by the Cat (with support from the others) and becomes a deputy leader under instruction from the Cat (who doesn't speak) and a child temptress when a beautiful adult woman on the odd occasion. This is when she can inspire great things from the highly strung Warlock. Singing and flying forest animals enjoy life with the help of the witch, but lord of the manor who has fallen for the Witch, ends up liaising with Cedric the Executioner and a wily, failed royal servant, gets into the mix to wreck things on all sides. By the way, "Magick" has extraordinary powers, whereas "magic" has not!!
