The authors combine elements of Jules Verne's science fiction novels, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, A Journey to the Center of the Earth, and From the Earth to the Moon into a breathtaking work of imagination. First translation into English.
Shipwrecked on a savage planet sunk into Dark Ages barbarism, Erik Baanfeld must find a way to adapt his modern-day skills into a primitive mode--or face a short, unhappy life as a beast of burden. His only chance is to become a--Singer of Lies!
Paul Ernst was born at the turn of the 20th century and took up writing in his early twenties. His initial efforts appeared in the science fiction pulps, including Astounding Stories, Strange Tales, and Amazing Stories. He remains best known for the infamous "Dr. Satan" series he penned for Weird Tales, as well as the 24 lead novels from The Avenger magazine, which featured (naturally enough) The Avenger as their hero. After the pulps disappeared, he wrote for slick magazines such as Good Housekeeping.
Kris Neville (1925-1980) was an American science fiction writer. His most famous work, "Bettyann" (1970) is considered an underground classic of science fiction. Other novels include "The Unearth People," "The Mutants," "Special Delivery," and "Invaders on the Moon."This volume collects the novel "Earth Alert!" (1953) and two shorter works, "General Max Shorter" (1962) and "New Apples in the Garden" (1963).
Revelations is the only part of the Bible which claims to produce language which has been precisely dictated by the Lord Jesus. Three times over, the Lord testifies personally to its truth, accuracy and authority (Revelation 22:16, 18, 20). The book reveals to us more about our future destiny in definite terms than any other book of the Bible. Nearly all the contents of the book relate to the events which precede and follow close upon the Second Coming of the Lord. His redemption divides into three parts -- to redeem the earth from Satan's rule, to cause "the meek" to "inherit the earth, and to delight themselves in the abundance of peace."
Depressed and indifferent heir of a vast coffee import fortune, Peter Van Dyke finds his life and high society engagement turn upside down when his secretary, Josephine Duval determines that she will rescue him from his horrible fate by ruining him morally. After an amusing scandal involving a nude Peter Van Dyke, Miss Duval and an ill starred burglar in a coat closet, he finds himself cast adrift in a fog with a motley crew that includes a Bishop Waller of the Episcopal Church and a former nude model named Aspirin Liz. The enterprising party lands unceremoniously on the shores of one of New York's sauciest nudist colonies, and thus is the liberation of the coffee importer set in motion. One of Smith's few comic novels in which no element of the supernatural is featured.
The secret of eternal youth can not be found through a study of the body alone, nor the mind alone; it does not have its sole existence in the elements of the earth, nor does it exercise its power exclusively through those forces of nature that can not be seen. When we learn to perpetuate youth, we add immeasurably to the joy of living, and since man is made for happiness, everything that can increase his happiness should be made a part of his life.
