WINNER OF THE 2023 NANCY PEARL AWARD "Cabreza has written a wonderfully engaging memoir. She expertly weaves together moments of heart-pounding adventure and moments of quiet, profound reflection. The result is a compelling story of a life lived with admirable gusto and deep thoughtfulness. I enjoyed every minute of it." (Daniel James Brown, author of Boys in the Boat and Facing the Mountain) Part cultural travelogue, part wildlife encounters and part dangerous, risk-filled adventure, this fascinating memoir follows the journey of a young female biologist during the 1950s-1970s, who was disillusioned with the country and frustrated by the conservative gender and social confines of the 1960s Midwest. At age twelve, inspired by a Life Magazine article, she developed an ambitious global goal list. She set out to accomplish it, eventually leaving the States for two decades of real-world adventures living in the Costa Rican Jungle, Hawaii, Asia, the Philippines, and Guam. She left searching for adventure, but along the way, she also battled family opposition, the frustrations of working in a male-dominated field, the invisible tentacles of the new Vietnam war, and the unconventional challenges of an interracial/intercultural marriage during an era when this was very unconventional. The adventures and dangers she faced helped her rediscover her country, find her life's passion, and eventually discover her faith. The story provides a valuable message for young people, about how going against what is considered "normal" allowed her to discover a world far greater than she could ever have imagined. Joan's forty-year career in biology and environmental protection spans research, academia, consulting, and government service. After her years abroad, she spent twenty-three years with the federal Environmental Protection Agency in Seattle and later edited the Aquatic Invasive Species Newsletter for the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission in Portland. She has lectured extensively on environmental programs, invasive species, gardening to attract wildlife, and native plants. A world traveler and Master Gardener emeritus, she lives outside Seattle with her husband Carlos, a large organic garden, a flock of chickens, and occasionally, a great blue heron. This book is geared toward anybody and everybody that has ever looked at their life and said, "There has to be more to my life than this!" This is the exact realization I came to that prompted me to write it. When it comes to my style of talking, ministering, and even writing I am a big believer in the KISS method (and no, not the crazy 70s rock band)... Keep It Simple Silly. So this book, in the simplest of terms, addresses 3 basic life questions: 1- where you are at, 2- where you want to be, and 3- exactly how you are going to get there. Looking back over my life I can say the overall message in this book truly is all the things that God has been saying to me for almost 60 years but, until the last 15 years, I never took the time to listen to Him or ever really do anything about. Now that I have, I openly acknowledge that the views I'm sharing with you come from a faith-based biblical perspective: first and foremost God is real; second that He loves everyone unconditionally (yes even you); and lastly that He wants you to live a blessed and abundant life. Even if you're not quite ready to agree with those three points I firmly believe the principles that are discussed in each chapter will, at the very least, challenge you and give you the confidence to make some positive changes in your life; to find more and to believe that change is possible (which in my case seemed completely impossible or unimaginable)! Michael Lovrick lives in Des Moines, Washington. He is a Pastor and works as the Program Director & Transitional Care Manager for House of Mercy ministries. He is a loving father, grandfather, and passionate follower of Jesus. He has been called to preach the Gospel and when necessary... to use words. If this book spoke to you in any way or if you have any questions you can contact him at mpl.pact@gmail.com
One day while in meditation, I could sense the concern of God by his Spirit as it relates to His kingdom citizens. One major concern of his is that the church, which is built upon the solid rock of the very identity of Jesus Christ his dear Son, has lost its identity. As Jesus taught in his three and a half years of earthly ministry, he spoke of the Kingdom of God. He described to us in parables and clear speech just what the Kingdom is like. In doing so, he put forth the edicts of the King and established in the ears of the hearers, Kingdom Culture and Custom. By way of the death, the burial, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we have been made kings and priests in God's Kingdom. However, before we can function as kings, we must learn to function as priests. And before we can function as priests, we must learn our rights and privileges as accepted, beloved, redeemed, adopted, born again sons of the living King, and as love abiding citizens in his Kingdom. My name is Dwayne Michael Coleman Sr. I was born and raised in Gary Indiana, (or as I like to affectionately call it), "Glory Indiana." As a preacher of almost Thirty years, and a pastor of fifteen years, one of my greatest concerns has become that the people of God understand that we are loved abiding citizens in his Kingdom of God. That being said, I believe it also imperative that we understand the customs and the culture of the Kingdom of Godss well. I don't believe that it is like anything that we have heard preached. But hopefully what I have written here in this book will bring insight on how the kingdom of God operates. But more importantly I hope to bring to bear the heart of the King Himself.
Prayer. It is the most important method of opening up a channel between God and ourselves. Prayer is our only hope if we seek to develop and evolve a closer, personal relationship with the God of all creation. Moreover, without it, we can't have high expectations for being able to "hear" God when He speaks to us. Or as much gratitude for experiencing His unlimited grace. God speaks to all of His children. The problem is that most of us don't know how or what to listen for. In author Magdalena Edmonson's Grace and Gratitude: Developing Personal Prayer, readers will find a creative and practical guide to develop and empower a new personal prayer life, with encouragement to regularly practice prayer. First started in the author's personal prayer journals, this book has grown into a God-given gift for all readers who wish to have a stronger prayer bond with God, and who long to hear His voice, but feel frustrated or concerned that there is something wrong with their prayers when they can't hear God's reply. Edmonson experienced her own difficulties in this, as she strived and struggled to listen to God's voice in all her prayers. She intuitively realized that she could "hear" God's responses to her journal writing, and through her thoughts whenever she had thoughts both "good and unusual" cross her mind. Sharing her process in these pages, the author hopes this book will serve you in your prayers as well, and help you discover the God who always loves, provides, and wishes to meet the deepest desires of our hearts. Magdalena Edmonson was born in Budapest, Hungary and escaped from Communism at age 9 with her parents and sister in 1956. Their journey to the United States was exciting to a 9-year-old, and she saw that God definitely directed their escape. Magdalena wanted to repay God by giving her life to Him from age 11 on but took a detour. At the age of 19, she fell in love, got married at 21, and had three marvelous sons. In 1975, she discovered a charismatic prayer group, committed her life to Christ, and the Lord began to change her life in many wonderful ways. In 1989, becoming frustrated that she could not maintain a regular prayer life, Magdalena started writing down what she wanted to say to God. She is still learning at age 75, but she is truly grateful for all His grace.

What if technology provided the means to meet our Savior face to face? What would that teach us about Him? What would it teach us about ourselves? Joshua of God by William Boffi is a compelling novel which explores the what ifs of this scenario in-depth. In the year 2028, scientists use technology to clone a human being using blood harvested from the sacred Shroud of Turin. The story follows the clone, named Joshua of God, throughout his years on earth as he seeks to fulfill his Father's will, helping and healing those in need and thereby bringing about what appears to be the second coming of Christ. The concept of the book came to William in the 1970's when interest in the Shroud of Turin soared. He used the idea to teach young people that whether the Shroud is truly the burial cloth of Jesus or not, we are certain through our faith that Jesus lived, died, and resurrected to give us a path to salvation. The principal reason for cloning Joshua of God was to learn more about the humanity of Jesus. The story will challenge your worldview and cause you to consider questions of faith, humanity, and divinity and how they shape our beliefs today. William Boffi is a retired Information Technology executive. He and his wife Claudia have been married for 57 years. They are devoted to their two adult children and their 5 grandchildren. His interests include writing, cooking, technology and being with family. William has earned a degree in Mathematics from Providence College. William and his wife live in Cranston RI. God's plan for man from before creation is that man may soar above the natural according to Genesis 1:26-31. Our God being immutable has not changed in this plan and the offer is still open and valid. The book is not an authority in this matter but has been derived from The Holy Scriptures with much of the work being scriptural references and few inspirational and sound quotes from Christian writers with strong biblical backing. It starts with the scene at the garden of Eden and the power and authority given to man, the loss of this power through sin and restoration of the same through our Lord Jesus Christ. It attempts to highlight on what it is to soar above the natural, the requirements for achieving and maintaining this state and the forces that work against this. It is therefore the writer's prayer and beseeching that this book will be read prayerfully and under the guidance of The Holy Spirit so that he/she will be guided into his/her fulfilment of God's initial plan, 'To multiply, fill the earth and subdue it' all for THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER THROUGH THE SON BY THE HOLY SPIRIT! The Voices in the Silence represents the internal thoughts, feelings, perspectives, and viewpoint from the experiences of a little girl as she entered the world and could only keep in the silence of her heart the internal conversations that she so earnestly desired to vocalize, but could not. The Voices in the Silence is he story of how pain was turned into discovering purpose and God's promises fulfilled in bringing a healing touch to her life and in the realization of dreams coming true. It's truly my prayer and hope that you will not only get a glimpse of His fingerprints and His handiwork in threading the details of her life for His glory, but to open your eyes to see His plan and purpose for yours....... let the voices speak!!! It's something no parent or child wants to go through: divorce. However, author Dr. Christopher Pohlod is not only a child of divorce but almost experienced his own divorce with his wife Angela. Though he and his wife were able to save their marriage, Dr. Pohlod knew personally, and professionally as a pediatrician, the effects of divorce have on children. His new book, Welcome to the Little Pieces Club: Discover God's Love and Wisdom Before and After Divorce & Separation, focuses on life after divorce and how to make it best between former spouses in coparenting their children. However, Dr. Pohlod encourages readers most to look at God's blueprint in marriage and work on loving and forgiving your spouse to save your marriage instead of looking toward divorce and separation. It's about growing in Christ and knowing God is there in trials, saving your marriage and children in the process.

We Almost Turned to Dust in the Duffel is a collection of short stories, some written decades ago, that were stashed in a duffel bag under a bed. One day, the bag was pulled out from the darkness, and the characters seemed to crawl out, sighing, "We almost turned to dust in the duffel." Each character has a story to tell about how their struggles taught them important life lessons: Do I really want what I wish for? Whom should I trust when the going gets tough? Who am I? Am I important? What is more important-the mess in life or life itself? Do I think I'm happily headed in the right direction while, really, I'm lost? Each story can be read in one sitting, and from each, many morals can be drawn. We Almost Turned to Dust in the Duffel can be enjoyed by people of all ages, from all around the world, and from all walks of life. God knew Jean Blair long before she was born, just like He knew you. She was designed in His imagination, created in secret, and when His work was ready, He carried her into the world. Jean was born into a huge and diverse family, which, over time, became more enormous and even more diverse. Sitting at the family table was like sitting in the United Nations. Jean and her four siblings grew up in Queens, New York, which gave Jean a taste of every single part of the world. Jean Blair is your neighbor. She is the author and illustrator of the new book We Almost Turned to Dust in the Duffel.
God Always Keeps His Promises! I think encouragement and inspiration is the goal and message of this book. Be inspired to take one more step, hold on one more day. God is going to show up. He your help and strength and although we get tired and even mess up, we are here for a reason. No matter how old or young or what you have been through, there is hope! "For nothing is impossible with God." Luke 1:37b
