Central Missouri possesses a bounty of history regarding brave men and women who have served both state and nation in the armed forces. German immigrants such as Wyatt Zimmerman left their homeland to seek the promise of a better life in Missouri only to be drawn into military service during the Civil War. Decades later, troops of a Missouri regiment in Fulton adopted a dog named "Boy" during their Spanish-American War service, watching as their canine friend received the coveted honor of meeting the President of the United States. Joseph Epps of Jamestown received a Congressional Medal of Honor more than a quarter-century following his heroics in the Philippines Insurrection. Years later, before the military draft of World War I drew thousands of Missourians into the service, William Borgmeyer of Westphalia left the dangers of construction work in 1915 and enlisted in the Army only to enter the front lines of combat in France a couple of years later. World War II introduced us to individuals such as David Shipley of Tipton, who used his service in the U.S. Navy to fight for civil rights. The Korean War demonstrated the dedication of citizens such as Don Wyss, whose service provided him the GI Bill benefits that helped him earn his doctorate degree. Finally, the heroism of those who served in the Vietnam War is exemplified by veterans like Nancy Maxwell of Freeburg, who trained as a Navy Corpsman and provided medical care to those injured overseas. This book presents the military accounts of dozens of our fellow citizens who quietly performed their military duties, spanning the Civil War through Vietnam and the Cold War. Although no work can truly capture all aspects of the sacrifices made on our behalf, this compilation presents many of the humble heroes that have lived among us.

But Lagos lies in the expensive shadows of sin, exposing and selling its youthful talents for quick cash and easy fixes. Stella mentors Nkechi into her parallel universe of prospering business woman by day and high-end call girl by night. Prostitution gives Nkechi the life few men have in Lagos with assurance of her family's comfort and education. But this newfound source of power and riches comes with a heavy price as her conscience slowly calls her out. With the late arrival of Terrie, a young drug trafficker wanting out of the business, sparking love rather than lust, Nkechi begins searching her heart to see if she can let anyone into the mess she has created of her life.

There are three major religions in the world today Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. While some would say the three serve the same god, the proven truth is there are two different gods. Abraham is the historical father of the three religions and the originator of Judaism. Jesus Christ is the founder of Christianity. Mohammad is the founder of Islam. Each one's life becomes the focal point of the belief of the three religions. The character of God separates the religions from each other. This book exposes the differences between Christianity and Islam.

The Thomases are skeptical of allowing the friendship to commence, but the two quickly develop an interesting and complicated relationship, which soon develops into a dramatic, passionate, and, in some respects, even a violent love story. Tony has a hard time gaining acceptance from his new town and fi?tting into his new school. By being introduced to Gabriella's friends, joining the basketball team, and being nominated for the student body council, Tony begins to blend into the lifestyle of a typical high school student. But will Tony Gambino's true identity be discovered and will his background come back to haunt him? Will Gabriella's parents forever question their decision on allowing her to associate with Tony? In a plot that reveals vulnerability in each of the teens, Zaccari has illustrated a strong and vivid metaphor in many respects for the emotions that can overwhelm us all.
