The new year is unusually cold in Foggy Point, Washington. As a result, the new manager of the equestrian center asks Harriet Truman and her quilt group The Loose Threads to make a special type of saddle blanket designed to keep a horse''s kidneys warm while they are ridden in the cold.As Harriet and Jenny''s foster kids board their horses there, the Threads agree. They soon find themselves getting more involved at the stable, volunteering for the equine therapy program the local homeless veterans participate in.The quilters quickly discover that the disabled husband of the new stable manager, Simon, not only teaches young women to ride, he gropes them every chance he gets.The local homeless veterans are invited to participate in a horse therapy program at the stable, and the quilters volunteer to help. It quickly becomes clear that one of the veterans has a past history with Simon, and it isn''t a good one.Tension at the stables rises as Simon''s behavior continues to offend. Harriet and the Threads decide to spend more time observing riding classes, preventing Simon from having time alone with the female students. Their guard duty comes to an end almost before it begins when someone puts a more permanent end to Simon''s bad behavior.More than one person had reason to wish him dead, but who did the deed?
In the air there's a feeling of…murder?It's the holiday season in Foggy Point, Washington, and after a tumultuous summer and fall, quilter Harriet Truman is hoping to create happy memories for her first Christmas with husband James and their foster son Luke. Harriet and her quilt group the Loose Threads make holiday quilts for the front windows of the merchants on Main Street. The stores decorate to match their quilts, and the town takes on a storybook feel. The week-long community festivities have barely begun when shop owners begin dying. Harriet soon realizes she's being stalked by a gray car. Why would someone want to kill the merchants of Foggy Point? Is the gray car following her the killer, or is it something else entirely?
Family can be murderA quilting conference brings Harriet Truman face-to-face with a past she had been happy to forget. Then she learns the quilter staying at Aiden Jalbert's house is an old flame whose real agenda might not involve needle and thread.Then the old flame is found dead in Aiden's temporary living quarters, and all the evidence points to him. Unless Harriet and the Threads can track down the real killer, Harriet's blooming romance may wither on the stem.
Pet quilts are the project of the day for Harriet Truman and the Loose Threads. Local veterinarian Aiden Jalbert decides to set up an animal kennel for the local battered women's shelter and asks the quilters to sew bedding for it. Harriet is soon drawn into the world of domestic violence when Loose Thread Sarah Ness calls from the emergency room, where she's landed as a result of a vicious beating by her fiancé Seth Pratt.Sarah initially refuses to consider going to the shelter but is forced to change her mind when she wakes to find Seth dead beside her in bed. Is Harriet's friend a killer, or did someone else want Seth dead? Will Harriet put herself in the killer's sights if she tries to figure it out?
