Academie Julian

Academie Julian was instrumental in 19th century France for opening up art training to all, Women's classes were established and the art school helped prepare pupils for the Ecole des beaux-arts exams and entry, with the ultimate goal of the coveted Prix de Rome prize, which meant an all-expense trip to Italy for several years study. The Academie was also a stepping stone to the Paris Salon and world recognition if accepted. The book covers the instructors who helped shape classes for Rodolphe Julian, its Founder.
