Ava the Mermaid

Om Ava the Mermaid

Ava the Mermaid is a story about kindness and inclusion. Ava wants to play with the other merpeople but she struggles to keep up with their games so they don't include her. She becomes friends with another mermaid whose tail looks similar to hers. Along with her brother and sister, Ava shows the merpeople how they can include her in their games and they all enjoy playing together. Ava the Mermaid was written based on Eleanor Baggaley's daughter who has Down syndrome. She wanted a book to support other children in understanding that we're all different and some people may need a little help from time to time but still enjoy the same things as their peers. The book includes activities to help explore kindness and inclusion further.
