In the sleepy town of Redford, West Virginia, a young man's eighteenth birthday should be an important milestone. Instead, Sam Riley's eighteenth birthday finds him in the heart of a reality-bending nightmare he can't seem to escape. That is, until he stumbles upon something that may just be his salvation-a strange girl named Ashley, camping in the woods.

As Sam and Ashley forge an unlikely friendship, the line between past and present continues to blur until, finally, Sam must face the questions that have haunted him all summer: why is this happening to him, and why is it happening now? And, what if the only way out of this nightmare is to come to terms with a truth he can't bear?
