Om Because Mamannie Said So
Mamannie, my maternal grandmother left specific instructions to never let this Davis family go down from generations to generations. This book is one of my efforts to honor her wishes. There will be other books to come. The George and Annie Davis family is a big Southern African American family from mainly Marshall and Maury counties in Tennessee. Most of them were sharecroppers. The book contains detailed, exciting, enhanced for clarity and entertainment, old family history stories beginning around the early 1900s so that generations to come can know about the people whose shoulders they stand on. The old family photos help the reader to see that they were real people. Pop and Mamannie left instructions for us to live by and Words of Wisdom for our spiritual growth. In addition, this book has old plus some newer dessert recipes to be made and enjoyed. Mamannie made desserts everyday for her family of twelve. They only ate meat on Sundays, and she wanted her big family to have enough to eat due to their hard work in the fields. She made two servings of dessert for each family member to eat each day. Because of this, many of the Davis' today love to bake and enjoy the old family desserts found in the recipe section.
