Bees are very important insects that play a vital role in the pollination for flowers and plants. There are more than 16,000 species of bees in the world and they are in all continents except the Antarctica. Bees, share with birds and bats, the responsibility of one third of the human food that we consume as they pollinate flowers and plants. Honey bees not only produce honey; they also produce beeswax, royal jelly and propolis. Beekeeper and Apiculture are the names we give to people who keep honey bees and practice this trade. This story takes place in the year 1870 in the town of Guane, Province of Pinar Del Rio, Cuba and in Key West, Florida, USA.
