Dhanak Rang

Om Dhanak Rang

Feminism has been a prominent literary idea in international literature, addressing women's identities and a range of challenges on many levels. In Urdu, 'Tanisiat' (feminism) has also created a distinct identity in prose and poetry that is now irreversible, much like other literary movements, trends, and ideologies. In Urdu literature, 'Tanisiat' has already reached a point where, because of its language and thought patterns, no literary history can be deemed complete without including women's writing. Compiled by Farha Andaleeb, "Dhanak Rang" is an anthology of five short stories written by well-known female Urdu writers: Razia Sajjad Zaheer, Khadija Mastoor, Hajra Masroor, Jeelani Bano and Wajida Tabassum.
