"Five Children and It" is a classic children's novel written by Edith Nesbit, first published in 1902. The story follows the adventures of five siblings who discover a magical creature called the Psammead, near their home in the English countryside.
The Psammead is a sand-fairy with the ability to grant wishes but with a mischievous twist. Whenever the children make a wish, it comes true, but often not in the way they expect or desire. As the story progresses, the children encounter various adventures and challenges, including encounters with ancient civilizations, time-traveling escapades, and encounters with other magical creatures.
