For Want of A Lighthouse

No safe harbours for steamboats or sailing vessels could be found along the isolated 70-mile stretch at the eastern end of the Great Lakes known as "the graveyard of Lake Ontario". It was on these shores that a remarkable network of essential lighthouses and light towers was built to guide 19th Century mariners through these dangerous waters.
