Moorthy, Kavitha and Sanjay is a happy family living in England. One day, Kavitha becomes suspicious about her husband Moorthy's behaviour and starting to think that he may be having an affair with another woman. When she start to pay attention to her husband's behaviour, everything appears to confirm her instinctive feeling that he is cheating on her. Her discussion about this matter with her sister reinforces her feeling. When one forms a strong view of something, our brain goes on a mode of confirmation bias and interprets most of the information in a way that reinforces the belief. This concept is the foundation of this story. In addition to her suspicion, Kavitha is also forced to deal with matters that involves her parents and sister. This story describes her emotional journey of navigating these issues and her struggle to think rationally at times because of the stress she is under. Is her suspicion of her reasonable? Is Moorthy cheating on her? Will this result in breakup of this happy family?Aiyam Thura provides answers to these questions.
This book, written during the pandemic, is the brainchild of the author, based primarily on the Kashmiri sayings the elders used to quote and intersperse during their day-to-day conversations. Such special sayings, the proverbs, are gems of wisdom that give advice about life. Proverbs do reflect and demonstrate national events, social customs and vices, and are found in all languages and societies alike. As rightly said by a Panamanian, "Proverb is to speech what salt is to food." Generations have passed, but those proverbs are relevant even today. These proverbs, handed over through word of mouth, might slowly dwindle and vanish from our lives as our future generations are bound to distance themselves from the use of Kashmiri language due to circumstances created by the design, compulsion or choice. This concern prompted me to document these proverbs. The compilation has 101 Kashmiri proverbs in English, Urdu and Hindi, to ensure better reach. The meaning of each word is annexed with an elaborate description, interpretation and usage with illustrative examples, wherever possible. These proverbs are hoped to invoke interesting memories in Kashmiris, in particular and a positive reception from other regions as well, by recapitulating similar proverbs in their own languages.
Tiruvu and Other Short Stories mainly concentrate on the life of people in the society in which the author lives. These are definitely not his life stories but they are not truly imaginary. The stories have already been published in Kannada Daily papers, weekly magazines and won in some story competitions. The intention to publish this book is to reach the maximum number of people.
A Daffodil Amongst Narcissuses is a volume of short tales for all ages. Beguilingly haunting and hemmed with splendour, these tales chronicle the adventures of a terrible Mountain Lion who wishes to be human, a thin-strawed Scarecrow who yearns for the love of the farmer's daughter, a remarkably unremarkable Beetle that finds himself on the freight cars of a rather interesting travelling circus, and a cynical lizard that despises his neighbour's bonhomie.Full of delightful, joyous imagery - lands that belong to another world, monsters and magik of new and yore, Angels and the candy-coloured clouds they travel on - tales of the most fantastical kind.
How to define a good "short story"? If you ask me, I will say it like this, "A short story should be like a 'piece of mango' when you have "sundal" snack in beachside (synonymous to the idiom 'Cherry on the cake')."Hmmm. Now think you are in a beach walk, amid sand, sunset and wind. And just got a small bag of 'sundal' to eat, and finally got a small mango piece in it at the end. You chew little longer and enjoy the same. It is a unique pleasure and take you to a different world of trance."Like a small piece of mango which will cater your taste bud, this book also got collection of short stories which touches upon various genres like social, love of a father, political, marital relationship and emotions with humor and satire. It will reflect today's contemporary life. Surely, all the stories in this book will take you to another world of bliss. I hope you enjoy it.

The Communist Party's attitude toward art in this period was, in general, epiphenomenal of its economic policy. A resolution of 1925 voiced the party's refusal to sanction anyone's literary faction. This reflected the New Economic Policy (NEP) of a limited free-market economy. The period of the First Five-Year Plan (1928-1932) saw a more or less voluntary return to a more committed artistic posture, and during the second Five-Year Plan (1932-1936), this commitment was crystallized in the formation of a Writers' Union. The first congress of this union in 1934, featuring speeches by Maxim Gorky and Bukharin, officially adopted socialist realism, as defined primarily by Andrei Zhdanov (1896-1948). Aptly dubbed by Terry Eagleton as "Stalin's cultural thug," it was Zhdanov whose proscriptive shadow thenceforward fell over Soviet cultural affairs. Although Nikolai Bukharin's speech at the congress had attempted a synthesis of Formalist and sociological attitudes, premised on his assertion that within "the microcosm of the word is embedded the macrocosm of history," Bukharin was eventually to fall from his position as the leading theoretician of the party: his trial and execution, stemming from his political and economic differences with Stalin, were also symptomatic of the fact that Formalism soon became a sin once more. Bukharin had called for socialist realism to portray not reality "as it is" but rather as it exists in socialist imagination.

There are three parts in this book. The first part covers philosophical learning. It captures the imaginary thoughts of a newborn baby. It touches upon the aspects of its readiness as a part of this birth. Will it find out the details of "Runa" (Roughly translated as Debt), what is required to find out the balance, what actions are required to achieve zero balance, what is the purpose of this life, etc. Finally, it requests the supreme to grant just two boons. The second part is all about professional learnings captured in the form of formulas. During the early phase of learning from educational institutions, it is all about structured learning. Be it the number of subjects, syllabus, guidance, regular assessment etc. The idea is to prepare the subject (person) to be ready to solve the future challenges. When one gets into any professional life, one would figure out that all those learning subjects and techniques are necessary but not sufficient. In this phase (career phase), learning is never structured. Everyone has to figure out their own style of learning and form the compilation. The second part of the book possesses my learnings compiled into formulae. The formulae also represent the abstraction of concrete concepts. That is also one of the key learnings. It touches various topics across notion of infinity, importance of preparation, office politics, Usability, work related stress, innovation etc. It is totaling to 52 in numbers, one per week lasting for one year (52 weeks). The third part is about the fun element. It provides the reader riddles to solve. It provides cryptic ways of describing a thing and makes the reader guess. Of course, it captures the answer at the end of the book. This is an attempt to engage the reader to let his/her imagination run wild with the way of describing a thing.
Mark Twain observed, "I'm in favour of progress; it's change I don't like." Coal dominates Indian energy because it's available domestically and cheap (especially without a carbon tax). If the global focus is on the energy transition, how does India ensure a just transition? Managing winners and losers will be the single largest challenge for India's energy policy. Coal is entrenched in a complex ecosystem. In some states, it's amongst the largest contributors to state budgets. The Indian Railways, India's largest civilian employer, is afloat because it overcharges coal to offset under-recovery from passengers. Coal India Limited, the public sector miner that produces 85% of domestic coal, is the world's largest coal miner. But despite enormous reserves, India imports about a quarter of consumption. On the flip side, coal faces inevitable pressure from renewable energy, which is the cheapest option for new builds. However, there is significant coal-based power capacity already in place, some of which is underutilized, or even stranded. Low per-capita energy consumption means India must still grow its energy supply. Before India can phase out coal, it must first achieve a plateau of coal. How this happens cost-effectively and with least resistance isn't just a technical or economic question, it depends on the political economy of coal and its alternatives. Some stakeholders want to kill coal. A wiser option may be to first clean it up, instead of wishing it away. Across 18 chapters, drawing from leading experts in the field, we examine all aspects of coal's future in India. We find no easy answers, but attempt to combine the big picture with details, bringing them together to offer a range of policy options.
In terms of Articles 53,73, 74,75, 154, 155, 156, 163 and 164, President should rule Indian Union with help of Governors in the states. Ministers are only helpers and advisors appointed and removed by President and Governors at pleasure. In terms of Article 1, India is union of states and hence unitary, not federal. President is the only elected authority in India. "Republic" means a country ruled by a President. Multiparty system, Regional party system, political alliances are illegal. Election manifestos which offer specified benefits to specified people are "Considerations" and hence illegal. Executive Power of the President extends to whole territory of India in terms of Article 53 and 73. Hence, state ministers have no right to alienate lands in the states. Mid-term elections are unconstitutional. Terms of Lok Sabha and state assemblies are five years in terms of Article 83 and 172. They can never be dissolved mid-term under the constitution, much less, on the advice of the Prime Minister or Chief Ministers who are after all political rivals to opposition members. Cancelling the memberships of hundreds of elected opposition members, mid-term, en masse, without their fault, is a sin against democracy and an atrocity against constitution.

Whenever one smiles and tells people that he or she is okay, they believe it. But then, when that person tells them about how down and low they feel, people say that you are so happy and you're smiling, then how are you feeling that way?Well, one thing that people need to learn is that appearances can be deceiving. You don't want to believe someone based on how they seem currently. People need to learn how to be kind, soft-spoken and learn to manage their ego since you don't know what the other person is going through. One unnecessary word from you can change their lives and might make someone end theirs. We don't tend to know the power held by our words. Even circumlocution can hurt someone. But some simple, kind words become soothing and miraculous for a person. Those words act like a rope when a person is drowning in the sea of darkness. It gives a new ray of hope. And that's what happened to the author of this Frozen Tears. This book describes the pain one goes through during the heart-breaking yet ethereal phase of 'one-sided' love. The phase which gives rise to a new and fresh being, which happens to everyone at least once in their lifetime, happened with Alisha. Even though she knew that the feeling wouldn't be mutual, she suffered through that phase, and it was even more breaking than she had expected. It was a sudden paroxysm of grieving emotions.
The main software when using the computer is the operating system. The operating system defines all the experiences when using a computer; it manages the hardware and software resources of the computer system, provides a way for applications to deal with the hardware without having to know all the details of the hardware, and it is the software that makes all the programs work. It organizes and controls the hardware on computers. The operating system is the first software we see when we turn on the computer, and the last software we see when the computer is turned off.The operating system plays the role of the good parent, making sure that each application gets the necessary resources while playing nicely with all the other applications, as well as husbanding the limited capacity of the system for the greatest good of all the users and applications. Even if a particular computer is unique, an operating system can ensure that applications continue to run when hardware upgrades and updates occur.
Here we have a collection of a little over hundred verses, most of which were a part of the common man's knowledge not long ago. These are from the Mahabharata, the Pancatantra, the Hitopadesa, the Subhashita-s of Bhartrihari and such other texts. Some verses teach ethical behavior and some others realistically and bluntly tell about human behavior in different situations. Most of the present day societies are focusing more on imparting job-oriented skills to children, paying little attention to their emotional growth. The governments too are cutting back on the liberal arts which are essential for the emotional intelligence and maturity of our children. Such trends have negative manifestations which are sadly realized at a later stage in life. We realize that progress cannot be at the cost of human values and goals in life. These verses are like the 'box of truisms' and 'words to live by', in Louis Mac Neice's words. They may not be fully understood by the kids straightaway, but they reveal their full flavor as the kids grow and face the realities and problems of life. They are like the time release capsules which release themselves slowly. Dr. Aravinda Rao K.
