The volume concentrates on the deployment of music in diverse political and social conditions. Jahrhundert in einem ostsyrischen Kloster und seinem ruralen Umfeld in einer ansonsten schlecht dokumentierten Zeit und Region. Der Autor veranschaulicht das alltägliche Leben im Kloster, seine ökonomische Grundlage und das Verhältnis der Mönche zu ihrem christlichen und nicht-christlichen Umfeld und analysiert es im Kontext seiner historischen Situation. Das Ergebnis ist eine Momentaufnahme mit erstaunlichen Einsichten in das alltägliche, multireligiös geprägte Leben im Nordirak des 10. Jahrhunderts. Allerdings sind diesen durch die Natur der Quelle als hagiographischer Text Grenzen gesetzt.

The horses in All the Pretty Horses are ubiquitous but rarely the center of attention. Their depiction is surprisingly authentic and without anthropomorphization. This book illustrates how an equicentric reading offers new insights into the novel's spaces, characters, and relationships.

The present study substantiates the claim that a person's efficacy beliefs may constitute a valid predictor of the DMC phenomenon. The study shows that adjectival synthetic compounds in English come in two categories. Eventive compounds behave in a way pointing to the presence of the verbal structure in their syntactic representation.
