A Friend I Could Die for is based on a history of friendships of every kind. What does it take to have friends and to be one? How do circumstances beyond our control poison relationships and complicate them? Is it true that some friendships are for a reason, a season, or forever?
Abel Sanchez by Unamuno and the Cain and Abel story of brothers influenced the writing of this story. Of extreme importance were discussions with Meridith Miller, Kirsten Lundenberg and Diana Adelizzi on the interplay of ego, id, and superego and the development of sociopathic and psychopathic behavior.
