Homecoming

Actress and aspiring novelist Milly Martini is living life on the edge, estranged from her family for over twenty years and spiraling downward into schizophrenia, when one day she is called back to her hometown of Maple Rock - a dark and beautiful town with many secrets, and a past that Milly thought she had escaped -- when she receives word of the deaths of her parents in an unexplained fire.
Amid the shock and confusion surrounding the fire and the loss of her parents, Milly returns to Maple Rock and begins the challenging and painful process of reconnecting with her sisters and searching for answers. But then a tall woman in a black robe, who Milly begins to suspect is connected to the fire, and to the deaths of her friends and parents, enters town and sets up a new Curiosity Shop: Gradually as they explore the new store and buy crystals, tarot cards, strange lamps, furniture, books and other items, and attempt to interact with the woman, more and more is revealed to Milly about the fire, about her true nature and origins, and about who she and her sisters really are.
The novel explores the themes of family curse, homecoming, discovering one's nature and origins, and the things that have power over one.
