In defense of Our Anthropophagic America

Om In defense of Our Anthropophagic America

The research we carried out was an attempt to contribute to the production of scientific knowledge with the aim of strengthening Latin American studies. Both José Martí and Oswald de Andrade defended their own narratives, opposing the common thinking of their times, which reproduced the perspective of Eurocentric discourse. For both of them, it was necessary to think about a multidirectional discursive relationship, so that Latin America could overcome the stigma that relegated it to a subordinate place on the world stage. When we see today, in various artistic expressions, narratives about cultural affirmation, especially of groups excluded from society, in fact, what we see in such discourses takes us back to the meanings that permeated the Martian and Oswaldian narratives, which still echo across the continent and perfectly represent the continuity of the emancipatory discourse of Nuestra América and Anthropophagy. It is Latin America speaking for itself.
