Making the Case

When, why, and how did the narrative psychological case-history emerge as a medical, psychological and literary genre, but equally as a communication medium concerning the ¿self¿, a model and modeling of individuality, a vehicle of pastoral guidance and a form of bio-political power in Germany in the 18th century? Drawing on interdisciplinary work in the history of science, medicine and literature this book traces the origins of the genre.
