Om Moriviví
Moriviví: To have Died yet Lived, is a bilingual poetry collection in Spanish and English which follows the journey of a young woman attempting to crawl her way back to the land of the living.Kamilah Mercedes Valentín Díaz had never been described as the quiet type, but after the solitude brought on by the pandemic, her first depressive episode, and a diagnosis of Obsessive Compul- sive Disorder (OCD) she felt like someone had taken a pair of shears to her vocal chords.Only to find out that it was her own hand holding the scissors.Writing this collection helped her get her voice back and begin to nurture a healthier relationship with uncertainty. If you're struggling or simply curious this book is for you. If you feel like you're dying despite still having a pulse I hope this book makes its way into your hands and provides some comfort during your dark times. You are not alone. This is not the end. It's okay not to be okay.
Kamilah Mercedes Valentin Diaz is a chronic overthinker, who also happens to be publishing her debut poetry collection, Moriviví: To have Died yet Lived, with Alegria Publishing. Originally from Puerto Rico, Kamilah has tons of experience with change, but during the pandemic she was forced to sit still. With so much time to spare and her mental health circling the drain Kamilah began to write again. Her family, sheer stubbornness (she's a Tauro), thera- py, and writing journey helped her come back to life. As a college senior attending Purdue University, Kamilah is ready to get back in the thick of it and hopes to attend grad school to achieve an MFA in Creative Writing.
