ONAWA Onawa. Her name in the English, means wide awake. Her story begins when the sickness comes to her village. She would eventually travel far and have many adventures. Her people, the Muscogee, lived on this land for a thousand years, but now the white settlers brought much change.They brought the sickness to her people, but they brought many good things to her people as well. This is her story, and the story of the settlers who came and took her people's land. And of course, the story of the pretty yellow rocks she found and happened to save
