Report of the Lords of the Committee of Privy Council on the Commerce and Navigation between His Majesty’s Dominions, and the Territories Belonging to the United States of America

This 1791 report on the balance of trade between Britain and the United States inquired into the effects of new American duties on trade with Britain. In this context, the prosperity of the British West Indian colonies depended entirely on their slave-based economy, and abolition was therefore thought impossible.
