Right Turn

Om Right Turn

This book has attempted to provide a good insight into Ghana's road safety management by way of a comprehensive information point for better understanding and appreciation of the national road safety profile. The theoretical background of different aspects of road traffic crash (RTC) and road safety by global/international standards and best practices are presented for comparative analysis of the state of road safety in Ghana. An attempt has also been made to elaborate on different perspectives of the multiple aspects of road safety in terms of what has been done, what is being done, and what needs to be done. These are applied as benchmark information for exploring the state of Ghana's road safety work with regard to existing road safety programmes, policies, legislation, institutions, contextual factors relating to politics, environment, economics, capacity, and the related impact on road traffic fatalities and injuries in Ghana. The book draws on and gratefully acknowledges the many listed sources from which information was obtained, including road safety publications by road safety affiliated agencies of the United Nations especially the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the United Nations Committee of Experts (UNCE). Others are the World Bank, diverse academic and non-academic publications, books of similar nature, published and unpublished journals in addition to many other sources not captured.
