When Rosie arrives at the farm, she is the only donkey. The other animals haven't seen a donkey before, and they scorn her even though she tries to fit in. When the animals see her defending them from a pack of coyotes, they make her their friend, and Rosie is at home on the farm.
Rosie, One of a Kind is written for young readers to learn more about the relationships between different farm animals and how they interact in nature.
Gwinn Ward, author and illustrator, was inspired by watching the interactions of the animals at her community's farm.
