The book traces Jewish immigration to the United States and the entry of Jews into the cultural industry from the late 19th century to the mid-1960s. It traces their real and imaginary relationship with the African-American minority and examines their dialogue with the charisma of black music to form Jewish-black cooperation. Ari Katorza can show how the black-Jewish alliance took part within the hegemonic conflict of American culture.
