This reference book chronicles the popular and gritty British TV series of the 1970s, starring John Thaw and Dennis Waterman. It deals with the Flying Squad, or "Sweeney," which is cockney ryhming slang for Sweeney Todd. The book includes numerous photos as well as complete cast listing for all episodes, which appear in date order along with directorial credits, original air dates, and a succinct story synopses for each episode. There were four separate series of 13 episodes each, with the final series having an extra episode (14). There was also a pilot film in 1974 and two motion pictures which were made between series in 1977 and 1978. The series mostly was seen on ITV, usually on Monday evenings between nine and ten o'clock.
