Teacher Beliefs on Race and Referrals

The racial gap existing between teachers and students in today's schools has had an impact on the classroom climate. Most classroom teachers in the United States continue to be White and middle-class females who make daily decisions about what is considered poor behavior. Teachers often identify behavior as appropriate or inappropriate based on their values, beliefs, background knowledge, and relationship with the student. Teachers are usually directly affected by student behaviors,
