The Direction of War

Major General Sir Wilkinson Bird (1869-1943) saw active service in campaigns between 1897 and the First World War. His book, first published in 1920 and reissued here in its enlarged 1925 edition, provides a comprehensive guide to military strategy as it was understood during the inter-war period.
