Om The Last Time I Saw San Francisco

The Last Time I Saw San Francisco: And Other Stories follows the author’s adventures of gay erotica at different sites around the world. From the book’s Introduction: “My near namesake – William Jennings Bryan – has written a typical story In His Image, which speaks of 2000-plus years of common knowledge. (‘BC’ means, by the way, ‘Before Common Knowledge’) … But mine is a story that goes back hundreds if not thousands of years. It is the story of an intrinsic beauty represented in centuries of stone carving – the beauty of the male form. “In the museum of antiquities in Athens, Greece, there is row upon row of ancient attempts at casting this divine image in stone. There is an entire room of kouros, the early attempts of sculpting this image – it is like entering the shower room of modern-day football athletes.” About the Author: Born in Florida, William Joseph Bryan has experienced a good portion of the 20th century. Pre-Stonewall riot, saw him as Brian Jennings, presenting the 1964 concert “Music: The Hermaphroditic Art” for the One Institute. Under this pseudonym, various articles and photos appeared in early editions of The Advocate, including two cover photo stories. Bryan is emeritus professor of music at Foothill College, Los Altos, California. This is his fifth book. Others include a photo essay interpreting verses from Leaves of Grass, titled “Walt Whitman Today.” His erotic memoir is The Moment to Remember.
