The Roger Hudson Guitar Method is a progressive, dynamic guide to the fundamentals of music and the basics of classical and fingerstyle guitar playing. Each lesson offers attractive exercises and new compositions from the author as well as traditional sources. Areas of emphasis are rhythmic training, note reading, key and time signatures, scales, chords, arpeggios, basic right and left hand techniques, position shifting and repertoire. The method includes numerous solos and duets in classical, blues, jazz, folk and world music genres. The Roger Hudson Guitar Method is a product of over ten years of development seasoned by successful practical use with students in both individual and class instruction. Subjective in-depth technical discussion such as - nail shape, rest/free stroke, sitting position, etc. - was intentionally left out in favor of playable musical material. The method is designed to allow flexibility for instructors with varying perspectives and pedagogical styles. Lessons are arranged by techniques and key signatures. Keys covered are C/Am, G/Em, D/Bm, A/F#m, E/C#m, F/Dm, Bb/Gm. Early introduction to modes is included. 20 pages of additional repertoire includes: Greensleeves, Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring, Simple Gifts, Canon in D, Silent Night, Gymnopedie no.1. Several well-known Hudson originals are included: Harp Strings, Rainy Scene, Blue Stairways, Sambavacation and many more. Lessons also include standard classical repertoire by Carulli, Carcassi, Giuliani, Sor, Sanz and others. Solo and duet arrangements of international folksongs, hymns, carols are featured in lessons and as repertoire. Students are also introduced to chord symbols (including a few basic jazz chords) and strumming.
