Towns, Plans and Society in Modern Britain

The aim of this book is to bring an economic and social perspective to the history of the changing environment of British cities. This accessible account explores the interaction of the social and physical environment of cities showing that while all cities have been subject to the forces which produce 'mass urbanisation', all cities are not the same.
